HomeMy WebLinkAbout62-141 RESOLUTION NO. 62-141 URGING THE SUPPORT OF THE LEAGUE OF CALIFORNIA CITIES FOR LEGISLATION MODERNIZING HIGHWAY USER TAXES DURING THE 1963 REGULAR SESSION OF THE CALIFORNIA LEGISLATURE W~EREAS, special purpose taxes which are paid by the users of the facility acquired and constructed by such taxes are in a dif- ferent class than most of our general taxes in that only the user of the facility is taxed and then the tax is in proportion to the extent of the use; and WHEREAS, the rapid increase in the number of motor vehicles in the State of California has created an ever increasing demand for streets and highways within the State. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA: That the League of California Cities is requested to support legislation during the 1963 general session of the Califor- nia Legislature to modernize the highway user taxes so that a great- er portion of said taxes will be distributed to the cities for their use in providing, improving and maintaining city streets and traffic signals and that said funds be provided directly to the city from the State of Californial PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Santa Aha at its regular meeting held on the 16th ~y of July, 1962.
