RESOLUTION OF T~{E COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA
REQUESTING THE COUNTY OF ORANGE TO INCLUDE WITHIN T~{E
ARTERIAL HIGHWAY FINANCING PROGRAM THE DEVELOPMENT OF
FAIRVIEW STREET BETWEEN FIFTH STI%EET AND SEVENTEENTH
STREET
WHE~, the City of Santa Ana desires to improve Fairview Street from
Fifth Street to Seventeenth Street, and
W~EREAS, Fairview Street is au important artery in the County of Orange
and of general County interest, and
WHEREkS, ;~rtiale 2 and 3, Chapter 9, Division 2 of the Streets and Highways
Code authorizes a County, if it so desires~ to expend funds apportioued to it out
of the California Highway Users Tax Fund for aid to any City in the improvement,
construction or repair of a street within a City, and
WEEREAS, the Board of Supervisors intends to, by appropriate action, provide
iu the County budget of the Special Road Improvement Fund for the Fiscal Year
1963-64 a sum of money for the improvement of streets within the incorporated
cities of the County in accordance with the Orange County Arterial Highway
Financing Program~ and
WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors did provide $121,000.00 in the Fiscal Years
1960-61 and 1961-62 for the subject project, and the City of Santa Ana provided
$128,015.00 for the same project for 'the 1960-61 and 1961-62 Fiscal Years, and
W/qEREAS, the revised total estimated cost of this project exceeds the
approved amount of Cout~y and City funds by $64,000.00.
NOW, THE~REPORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the Council of the City of Santa Ana
hereby requests the Board of Supervisors of the County of Orange to allocate to said
City from County Funds the amount of $32,000.00 ($17,500 Ri~t of Way; $14,500 Construc-
tion), said amount to be matched by funds from said City~ to be used to aid said
City in the Completion of acquisition of rights of way and improvement of Fairview
Street from Fifth Street to Seventeenth Street; said acquisition and improvement
to be in aecordauce with the project statement submitted with Resolution No. 59-235
adopted Decemoer 21, 1959 and Resolution Number 60-268 adopted December 19, 1960.
BE IT FUR~qERRESOLVED: That the Board of Supervisors of the County of
Orange is hereby requested to find that said acquisition of rights of way and
improvement on Fairview Street, in the manner provided, is in the general County
interest, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: ~at, by this Resolution, the City of Santa Ana
agrees with the basic concepts of the Arterial Highways Financing Program; and
further agrees that its share of the cost of rights of way and improvement will
be available for the Fiscal Year 1963-6~.
