THE CITY OF SANTA ANA EXPRESSING OPPOSITION
TO A STATE WITHHOLDING TAX
WHEREAS, it has been proposed that the State of California
adopt legislation for withholding from income to cover State income
tax, and this City Council firmly believes that such withholding
provisions would be against the public interest and would tend to
make a majority of the citizenry unaware of the tax payment even
though the citizen did have to make and sign a return; and
WHEREAS, this Council believes that the nation is best
served if the citizens are aware of the financial support they render
to the national, state and local government.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the City Council of
the City of Santa Ana opposes any State Withholding tax as unnecessary
and an undue additional burden upon employers, and an undue lull of a
majority of our citizens to the detriment of our entire nation.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Santa
Aha at its regular meeting held on the 6th day of May, 1963.
