HomeMy WebLinkAbout63-093RESOLUTION 63-93 OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA EXPRESSING OPPOSITION TO ASSEMBLY BILL NO. 351 WHEREAS, after study and consideration of Assembly Bill No. 351, and considering the effect this bill could have upon numerous necessary public projects, it has been determined that said Bill is against the public interest and should be opposed. Now, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the City Council of the City of Santa Ana expresses its opposition to Assembly Bill No. 351, a bill which would place property owned by a public or private educational institution for future use in education outside the reach of eminent domain; and such educational institutions could then, by the ownership of unimproved land, declare their intention to use it for educational purposes and cause the abandonment, relocation or rerouting of development works for the public benefit. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That this Bill could place a great financial burden upon the tax payers of this State by making necessary projects unduly expensive, or in so~ae cases by prohibiting their establishment, and this City Council urges all members of the California State Legislature to oppose and vote against Assembly Bill No. 351.
