On motion of T~ustee Hunter, seconded by Dahl and carried, lng Ordinance entitled: the "An Ordinance of the City Council of the City of Santa Aha adopting the "Santa Ana Municipal Code" and repealing Ordinances which are obsolete or have been codified in said Code or are in conflict with said code" was introduced, read, considered and placed on file for second reading.. No written or oral protests having been received, on motion of Trustee Dahl, seconded by Hunter and carried, the following Resolution entitled: #A Resolution ordering the Street Superintendent to abate the public nuisance heretofore declared by the City Council of the City of Santa Ana, to-wit: Weeds which bear seeds of a wlngy or downy nature and attain such a large growth as to become a fire menace ~hen dry and which are noxious and dangerous, growing upon certain streets, sidewalks and private property in the City of Santa Aha, by having the weeds referred to removed" was read, considered, designated Resolution No. 52-33 and passed by the following vote: Ayes, Trustees J.L.McBride, Orson H. On motion of Trustee McBride, seconded by Dahl and carried, the Minutes of the Joint Outfall Sewer Executive Board meeting held April 3, 1952, were received and filed. # On motion of Trustee Hunter, seconded by Daht and carried, the request of J. Melvin Roberts for permission to conduct a public dance at the American Legion Hall, April 12, 1952, was g~anted. On motion of Trustee Hun~er, seconded by Dahl and carried, the notifications of the State Board of Equalization of alcoholic beverage applications made by Veterans of Foreign WarS, ~11~ W. ~th St.; Floyd M. Phillips, Lewis C. Blanton,and Sherman B. Foster, 220 East 3rd St.; and.Henry C. Walker, 1525 N. Main St., were received and filed. . On. motion of Trustee Dahl, seconded by Hunter and carried, the applications of Robert E. Buck and John A. NcCool, to drive taxicabs, were received, filed and permits granted. . On motion of Trustee Dahl, seconded by Hunter and carried, the request of M.L.Peareon, City Treasurer, that Mrs. Mildred Petereen be appointed to the position of Assistant City Treasurer, effective May 1, 1952, due to the resignation of Mrs. Connie Kelsey, was approved. # 197 In Re On motion of Trustee Dahl, seconded by McBride and carried, the Request Donald P. Harris request of Donald P. Harris, on behalf of the Watchtower Society, for (use Community Center Clubhouse & Bowl) permission to use the Municipal Bowl and the Community Center Club- house, September 5, 6 and 7, 1952, was granted, subject to payment In Re Pipe Line License with A.T.&.S.F. Ry. Co. In Re Application to solicit funds In Re Request Chief of Police In Re Communication City Engineer (P.E.Ry.Co. crossing on Orange Ave.) In Re Report Plann. Comm. In Re Petition requesting abandonment of portion of Vance St. In Re Map Tract No. 1558 (Improve Westwood and Tenth Sts.) of minimum rental fees. # On recommendation of the City Engineer and on motion of Trustee seconded~by Dahl and carried, Pipe Line License dated May 13, 1952, between the City and The Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway Company to construct and maintain one 2-1/2" galvanized pipe line and one 2" galvanized pipe line, also one meter and one 3/4" galvanized pipe service line along the Santa Fe tracks from Fourth Street north, was approved and proper officials authorized to execute the License. # On motion of Trustee Hunter, seconded by Dahl and carried, the request of William E. LeBlanc, local Chairman, of the United Cerebral Palsy Association, for permission to solicit funds on Thursday evening, April 25, 1952, was gA'anted. # On motion of Trustee Dahl, seconded by McBride and carried, the request of the Chief of Police was granted that Captain R.M.Bradley, who has accrued sufficient overtime, be permitted to attend the California Division of the International Association for Identificatiol at Berkeley, on May 28 through May 31, 1952, with expenses paid by the City. # Communication was read from the City Engineer advising the Pacific Electric Railway Company that the United States Rubber Company has purchased the property lying south of and adjacent to the Pacific Electric Railway tracks from a point which is slightly west of Orange Avenue as it exists north of the tracks, and that the Pacific Electric Railway Company probably would have no objection to granting an ease- ment for a crossing if the City agrees to pay the cost of the crossing on Orange Avenue estimated to be about $3500.00. It was moved by Trustee McBride, seconded by Hunter and carried, that the City agree to pay the cost of the crossing if it does not exceed the sum of $3500.00. # On motion of Trustee Dahl, seconded by Hunter and carried, the report from the Chairman Planning Commission reference East-West Major High- ways, was received and filed. A petition was read signed by William T. and Louise M. Reetz and Jesse J. and Wilmot M. Williams, requesting that a portion of Vance Street approximately 150 feet east of Santiago Street and which terminates at the easterly boundary of the property owned by the petitioners, be abandoned. On motion of Trustee McBride, seconded by Dahl and carried, the petition was referred to the Planning Commission for recommendation. On motion of Trustee Dahl, seconded by McBride and carried, Map Tract No. 1558 covering improvements of Westwood and Tenth Streets, sub- mitred by Emmet C. On motion of Trustee McBride, seconded by Dahl and carried, the recommendation of the Planning Commission was approved and variance granted to C.M.Harwood to permit the front yard requirements to be reduced so as to permit front yards of a depth of 25 feet instead of 35 feet on Lots 3,$,5,10,11,12 in Tract No. 14~8, which lots front In Re Amend. Application Reclassify property Nc.side 17th St. E. of Towner and lying btn 17th St. and alley (Allison Honer) upon a portion of Sixteenth Street extending west from North Towner Street. # Communication and Resolution'No. ~35 of the Planning Commission were read recommending that the Districting Ordinance be amended to re- classify fromR-2 District to R-3 District a parcel of land on the north side of West Seventeenth Street extending from a point approx- imately 115 feet west of Towner Street to a point approximately feet east of Towner Street and lying between Seventeenth Street and the alloy north thereof. On motion of Trustee Dahl, seconded by McBride and carried, a notice of public hearing was ordered published setting date as May 19, 1952 to reclassify to the R-3 District the In Re Tentative Map Tract No. 1331 property described in Resolution No. $35. . On motion of Trustee Hunter, seconded by Dahl and carried,-the recommendation of the Planning Commission was accepted and~Tentative Map of Tract No. 1331 approved, which Tract adjoins the west side of Grand Avenue and covers a portion of the land between Fruit Street and the Freeway, extending westerly approximately 260 feet, subject to the City Engineer approving the drainage and the tract putting in any In Re Amended Tentative Map Tract No. 1531 neceeeary pipelines which might be necessary or required. # On motion of Trustee Dahl, seconded by McBride and carried, the recommendation of the Planning Oo~mission was accepted and amended Tentative Map of Tract No. 1531 was approved showing the reduction in In Re Claim for damages the width of certain lots from sixty feet to fifty feet, which involves the extension of West 7th Street west of Hawley Street. On motion of Trustee Dahl, seconded by McBride and carried, the claim alleged cf Lansing B. Allen, in the sum of $7,807.50, for/damages caused by water overflowing on property St 614 South McClay Street, was referred to the City Attorney and Insurance Carrier. On motion of Trustee Dahl, seconded by Hunter and carried, Homer Sterling was appointed as temporary City Auditor and Purchasing Agent. On motion of Trustee Dahl, seconded by Hunter and carried, the committee report reference petition signed by John W. Prentlss et al requesting annexation to the City of c~rtain uninhabited territory, being a parcel of land extending along the east line of Main Street 150 ft. north of the north City limit line and extending 145.25 ft. east of the east line of Main Street, was received and filed. On motion of Trustee Dahl, seconded by Hunter and carried, the report of the City Attorney reference agreement between the City and Santa Aha City Employees Association for renewal of Bowl Concession, was received and filed. On motion of Trustee Hunter, seconded by Dahl and carried, the request of the automobile dealers that an Ordinance be prepared providing for the filing of a performance bond, was referred to the Chamber of Commerce and Business Men's Association for recommendation. Onmotion of Trustee Dahl, seconded by Hunter and carried, the follow- ing Resolution entitled: "Resolution adding classification of employment and salary therefor" for Zoo Attendant, was read, considered, designated Resolution No. 52-35 and passed by the following vote: Ayes, T~ustees J.L.McBride, Orson H. Noes, Trustees None Absent, Trustees William Jerome On motion of'Trustee Dahl, seconded by McBride and carried, the action of the Council on April 7, 1952 awarding to the Crook Company the contract for the furnishing of One Model 550 Adams motor grader was rescinded and all bids ordered rejected and checks returned. On motion of Trustee McBride, seconded by Dahl and carried, Tentative Map of Tract No. 1411 consisting of twelve lots lying in a portion of the area between Wright Street and the southerly prolongation of the east line of Llnwood Place and between First and Fourth Streets was approved as amended for drainage, subject to changing of street name from Linwood to Eastside Avenue and perpetual deed being secured from Arden Farms Company. On motion of Trustee Hunter, Council adjourned. seconded by Dahl and carried, the City City Clerk
