CALIFORNIA, EXPRESSING OPPOSITION TO A. B. 127
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Santa Aha approved
of the adoption of the "Brown Act", Chapter 9, Part 1, Division 2,
Title 5 of the Government Code and believes that said legislation
was proper and useful; and
WHEREAS, it is now proposed to amend and extend the said
"Brown Act" provisions by Assembly Bill 127 in a manner that, in
the opinion of this Council, would in many cases operate against
the public interest and would or could result in increasing the tax
rate and otherwise adversely affect public agencies.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That this City Council urges
the members of the Assembly Committee on Governmental Efficiency and
Economy not to support or vote for Assembly Bill 127 and urges the
members of the Legislature of the State of California to oppose
Assembly Bill 127 in the firm belief that no abuse exists that cannot
be regulated by the "Brown Act" as it now exists.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Santa
Ana at its regular meeting held on the 20th day of February, 1961.
