SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA, EXPRESSING OPPOSITION
TO SENATE BILL 765
WHEREAS, the City of Santa Ana is informed that Senate Bill
Number 765 proposes to realign McArthur Boulevard to route said
Boulevard around a runway extension on the Orange County Airport; and
WHEREAS, for several years there has been discussion about the
enlargement, relocation and/or extension of said Orange County Airport
at the Orange County level, and in each case the City of Santa Ana
and, on several occasions, other cities of the County have expressed
opposition to a change of alignment of McArthur Boulevard; and
WHEREAS, McArthur Boulevard is a Southerly extension of Main
Street in the City of Santa Ana and the two streets afford a direct
connection for traffic flow for the six principal cities to the ocean
front at Corona Del Mar which should be preserved for the benefit of
Newport Beach and for the vast majority of citizens of orange County,
California.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the City Council of the
City of Santa Ana hereby expresses official opposition to Senate Bill
Number 765, requests that the same not be reported out of committee
and requests that each and every member of the Senate record his vote
against said Bill if presented upon the floor Of the Senate.
