HomeMy WebLinkAbout61-081RESOLUTION NO. 61-81 OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA, EXPRESSING OPPOSITION TO ASSEMBLY BILL 494 BE IT RESOLVED: By the City Council of the City of Santa Ana that Assembly Bill 494 should not be reported out of Committee nor supported by the Members of the Legislature of the State. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That the City of Santa Ana is un- alterably opposed to State legislation which places a financial burden on local agencies; is in favor of local self-government with a minimum of statutory interference; that the "fringe benefits" in public employment still exceed such benefits in most private employ- ment, and a State-wide requirement for city, county and other local agency welfare plan would ultimately result in a reduction of pay scale in cities, counties and other local agencies, and Assembly Bill 494 should be opposed. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That no need exists for such legis- lation at any level of government in the State of California.
