HomeMy WebLinkAbout61-084RESOLUTION NO. 61-84 OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA, OPPOSING ASSEMBLY BILL 401 BE IT RESOLVED: That the attitude and the past actions of the State of California have evidenced no need for the Code Sections proposed by Assembly Bill 401; that purchases made by the State of California would be at the best attainable price for the goods or services sought and should not be limited by an inhibition of the type here proposed which might conceivably result in the acceptance of inferior goods or services at higher prices. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That in the very few cases where the State might be in urgent need of certain goods or services from a party who might have been determined to be involved in a "trade dispute",which the State could not purchase under such legislation, would in fact be taking sides in the "trade dispute" and would be very far from remaining neutral as is the declared purpose of this Bill, but not at all the affect of such Bill. Such legislation would require the State of California to lead in the boycott in any labor dispute, and this Council opposes such legislation on general' principles.
