GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD IN SANTA ANA,
CALIFORNIA, AND IN SANTA ANA SCHOOL DISTRICTS
TERRITORY OUTSIDE OF SAID CITY, ON APRIL 4, 1961,
AND DECLARING THE RESULT THEREOF
WHEREAS, the City Council, by Ordinance No. NS-507, duly called
and provided for the holding of a General Municipal Election to fill
offices on the City Council and the Board of Education, and said Election
was held and conducted on April 4th, 1961, as required by law; and
WHEREAS, notice of said Election was duly and regularly given in
time, form and manner as provided by law; the Election Officers were ap-
pointed, the votes cast in said Election were received and canvassed and
the returns were made and declared in time, form and manner as required
by law; and
WHEREAS, on the llth day of April, 1961, at the hour of 4:30 P.M.,
the City Council duly assembled at an adjourned regular meeting in the
Council Chambers of the City Hall, appointed a special Canvassing Board
and the Clerk of the Council appointed the same Board to canvass the
absent voters' ballots; said Council adjourned to 7:30 P.M. when it again
assembled in said Council Chambers in an adjourned regular meeting, re-
ceived and canvassed the returns of said Election, as a result of whichr
the City Council finds and declares the results of said Election.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA DOES
HEREBY RESOLVE, DETERMINE AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That there were 85 voting precincts established for
the holding of said Election, consisting of consolidations of regular
election precincts for the holding of State and County elections.
SECTION 2. That said General Municipal Election was held and con-
ducted in all respects as required by the Charter of the City of Santa
Aha and in accordance with the provisions of the Election Code of the
State of California for the holding of elections in cities of the sixth
class (now general law cities) for the purpose of electing three members
of the City Council and three members of the Santa Ana Board of Education.
SECTION 3. That the whole number of votes cast in said Election
was 13,404.
That the names
of the persons voted for; the office for which each
person was voted for; the number of votes given at each precinct for each
person; and the number of votes given in the City and in Santa Ana School
Districts territory outside of said City to each person are and is as
next herein set forth on the detailed tabulation which is included in and
hereby declared to be a part of this Resolution, as follows:

SECTION 4. The Clerk of the Council shall enter in the records
of the City Council the statement of the result of said Election, showing
all of the matters found, declared and resolved in Section 3 next herein-
above set out.
SECTION 5. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, THEREFORE: That at said
General Municipal Election A. ALLEN (AL) HALL, residing in Ward 1, HENRY
H. SCHLUETER, residing in Ward 3, and ROYAL E. HUBBARD, residing in
Ward 5, were elected to the office of MEMBER OF THE CITY COUNCIL for a
term of four years, and
That DR. H~RBERT T. STROSCHEIN, DR. BOB SHULER,.JR. and C. ROBERT
STURGIS were elected to the office of MEMBER OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION
for the term of four years.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Santa Aha
at its adjourned regular meeting held on the llth day of April, 1961,
for the purpose of canvassing the returns of said Election.
