AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE AN AGRE~4ENT BETWEEN THE METROPOLITAN WATER DISTRICT OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA AND VARIOUS CITIES AND DISTRICTS WITHIN THE COUNTY OF ORANGE FOR JOINT PARTICIPATION IN CONSTRUCTION AND USE OF A WATER DELIVERY LINE TO BE KNOWN AS THE "EAST ORANGE COUNTY FEEDER NO. 2" WHEREAS, the rapid urbanization of Orange County has created an ever increasing demand for potable water and the creation of new entities that have joined the METROPOLITAN WATER DISTRICT OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA, hereinafter called "Metropolitan", together with new areas presently proposed for urbanization, have now made the lines belonging to Metropolitan inadequate to serve newly annexed entities and presently proposed but not yet used areas of dense population; and WHEREAS, conversations and negotiation regarding the construction of a new feeder have been carried forward for many months between Met- ropolitan and ORANGE COUNTY MUNICIPAL WATER DISTRICT and COASTAL MUNI- CIPAL WATER DISTRICT, each organized under the Municipal Water District Act of 1911, and the cities of Fullerton, Anaheim and Santa Ana to reach agreement under the authority for joint exercise of powers for construction and use of such a feeder line; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the Mayor is hereby authorized for and on behalf of the City of Santa Ana, California, to execute the agreement presently proposed to jointly provide for the construction of a water delivery line to be known as "East Orange county Feeder No. 2". PASSED AND ADOPTED by the city Council of the City of Santa Ana at its regular meeting held on the 17th day of April, 1961.
