CITY OF SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA, OPPOSING ASSEMBLY
BILL 1593 AND REQUESTING THE CONTINUANCE OF THE
COLORADO RIVER BOARD OF CALIFORNIA
WHEREAS, for more than two decades the Colorado River Board
has functioned to insure, as best it can, California's rights to
water from the Colorado River and has worked with the boards and
officials from the other states having or claiming rights to Colorado
River water; and
WHEREAS, continuity of responsibility in this vital field
appears desirable to this City Council, and Assembly Bill 1593 if en-
acted in its present form would abolish the California Colorado River
Board and transfer its duties and responsibilities to the Department
of Water Resources without any apparent saving of tax dollars.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the City Council of the
City of Santa Ana, California, urges the defeat of Assembly Bill 1593
and protests any attempt to abolish the California Colorado River
Board as it is presently constituted.

Ana at its regular meeting held on the 1st day of May, 1961.
