Minutes of November 30th and December 7th, 1953, reading of the
Minutes was dispensed with and approved on motion of Councilman
Jerome, seconded by Dahl and carried.

the north side of West Washington Avenue between College Avenue and
English Street. Jack Newton, 1803 West Washington Avenue stated
that he would prefer the property to be reclassified to permit
separated units. On motion of Councilman Dahl, seconded by Jerome
and carried, the Attorney was instructed to prepare an Ordinance to

petition was received and filed. On motion of Councilman Jerome,
seconded by Larsen and carried, the recommendation of the Planning
Commission was approved and variance granted to Walter E. Tipton to
permit the remodeling of the existing residence at ?02 East 17th Stree~

two patrolmen and one motor patrol officer was authorized, effe0tive
January 1, 1954; also the purchase of one automobile and one motor-
cycle, expenditures to be transferred from f2xe unappropriated reserve
fund.

seconded by Jerome and carried, the request cf thirty residents'that
school zoning signs be installed in the proper blocks on South
Sycamore Street approaching Cubbon Street and Spurgeon School, was

On recommendation of the Manager and on motion of 0ouncilman Jerome
seconded by Lateen and carried, the request of Elmer Hvinden that a
pedestrian crossing be marked on East Seventeenth Street from the eas~

seconded by Larsen and carried, the request of Dodd, Inc., that a

The Manager orally reported that Robert A. Weber. Doalen, Los At. else
Examiner, had advised that the Sant~ Ama Commercial Company is
satisfactorily picking up waste paper ~'ubbish placed at the curb.

The Manager reported the title changes from City Engineer and Assist-
ant Engineer to Director of Public Works and Assistant Director of
Public Works have already been made as the positions have been retitls
and at the present time a complete set of specifications for the
engineering position are being compiled and there is no need for hold-
