THE ANNEXATION OF TERi{ITORY TO THE CITY OF SANCTA ANA,
DESIGNATING AN APPROPRIATE NA~¢~E OF "SEVEN~'EENTH AND
~4ABURY N. E. AI~NEX" FOR SAID TERRITORY, AND GIVING
NOTICE OF PROTEST HEARING THEREON
~EREAS, at the request of property owners in the territory
herein described, a description and a map of said territory were
presented to the Santa Ana Planning Commission, and said Conm~ission
approved the Annexation of said territory, and said description and
map were presented to the Boundary Commission of Orange County,
California, and said Boundary Commission caused to be p~epared a
report finding the proposed boundaries to be reasonably definite
and certain.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: ~nat the City Council of
the City of Santa Ana hereby initiates proceedings for Annexation
of said territory herein described, to the City of Santa Ana for the
following reasons:
1. That said territory is presently in need of municipal
services, particularly access to an adequate sewerage
system, and in the City of Santa Ana said territory
could be connected into the Santa Aha sewerage tru~s
and mains without paying any cost for said lines.
2. ~hat the area can best be served by the City of Santa
Ana with municipal services of the highest quality
anywhere obtainable.
3.) '~nat it is to the mutual advantage of the land owners
and the City of Santa Aha that said territory become
a part of said City.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That the City Council hereby declares
its intention to annex all of the territory hereinbelow described
under the provisions of the Annexation of Uninhabited Territory Act
of 1939, and hereby finds and declares that said territory is unin-
habited within the meaning of California Government Code Section

35303 on the date of the adoption of this Resolution; that said
territory is contiguous to the City of Santa Ana, lies in the
County of Orange, State of California, and is described as:
Commencing at the intersection of the center line of
Seventeenth Street and i~4abury Street, said intersection
being the Northwest corner of the Maria Sepulveda de Velarde
Tract, in the Rancho Santiago de Santa Ana, as shown on a
map of the Mabury Tract recorded in Book 165, Page 300 of
Deeds, Miscellaneous Records of Los Angeles County, Cali-
fornia; and running thence Easterly along said center line
of Seventeenth Street, 622.00 feet to a bolt marking the
Southwest corner of Lot 16 in Block A of the A. B. Chapman
Tract surveyed by Frank Lecouveur in 1270, as shown on a
map recorded in Book 102, Page 15 of Miscellaneous Maps,
records of Orange County, California, also as shown on
Record of Survey Map filed in Book 8 at Page 9, Records of
Surveys in the Office of the County Recorder of Orange
County, California; thence North 40.00 feet to the boundary
of the City of Santa Ana, California, and to the true point
of beginning; thence North 1,270.10 feet to the Southwest
corner of the land conveyed in the deed recorded January 5,
18~3, in Book 96, Page 232 of Deeds, Records of Los Angeles
County, California; thence East 664.62 feet; thence South
1,273.40 feet to said City boundary; thence West along said
City boundary 664.~2 feet to the true point of beginning.
BE IT FUR'~HER RESOLVED: ~Iqaat "Seventeenth and lvlabury N. E.
Annex" is hereby designated as an appropriate name by which said
territory shall be known for the purpose of this annexation.
BE IT FUR~IXqER RESOLVED: That notice is hereby given that
January 3, 1961, at the hour of 7:30 P.M. in the Council Chambers,
city Hall, 3rd and ~iain Streets, Santa Ana, California, is the time
and place fixed at which said Council will hear protests against
this annexation made by any person owning property within said
territory. At any time before said hour any owner of property within
said territory may file written protest against this proposed annex-
ation. Such protest shall state the name of the owner of the property
affected and the description and area of the property in general
terms, all as provided for in Section 35312 of the Government Code of
the State of California.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Santa Ana
at its regular meeting held on the 21st day of November, 1960.
