OF BOOKS TO BE PLACED IN THE SANTA ANA PUBLIC LIBRARY
AND AGREEING TO THE TERMS OF AND ACCEPTING THE
TESTAMENTARY TRUST UNDER THE CONDITIONS SET FORTH IN
THE WILL OF LILLIAN B. WOODMAN
WHEREAS, LILLIAN B. WOODMAN, a resident of the City of Santa
Ans, by way of her Last Will and Testament, left the residue of her
estate to the City of Santa Ana "to be used exclusively for public
library purposes, and in particular, to purchase books selected by
the library staff in my (her) memory"; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Santa Ana does
hereby determine that the acceptance of said bequest on the above-
mentioned terms and conditions would be in the public interests and
for the benefit of the City of Santa Ana;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the City Council of the
City of Santa Ana hereby accepts said gift for and on behalf of the
City as a Testamentary Trust and hereby authorizes and directs the
Director of Finance of the City to accept the residue of the estate
of LILLIAN B. WOODMAN, deceased, to wit, the sum of $24,576.75 in
cash, from C. Arthur Nisson, Executor of the estate of LILLIAN B.
WOODMAN, deceased, and to hold said monies in trust for the benefit
of the Santa Ana Public Library, said monies and the income which may
accrue therefrom to be used exclusively for public library purposes,
and in particular, to purchase books selected by the Library staff
in memory of LILLIAN B. WOODMAN, a resident of the City of Santa Ana,
now deceased.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That this City Council does hereby
express its appreciation and, as official spokesmen, the gratitude
of the citizens of the City of Santa Ana for the kindness, wisdom,
and generosity of said LILLIAN B. WOODMAN.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That the City's Director of Finance
is hereby ordered to account, through the office of the City Attorney,
to the Probate Department of the Superior Court of the State of
California,in and for the County of Orange, in the Matter of the
Estate of Lillian B. Woodman, Deceased, Case No. A-50809, upon the
expenditure of all funds received and/or earned from the monies
received from the Estate upon the final expenditure of all of said
monies and income, or not later than three (3) years from the date
of this Resolution and not less than once during each three (3) year
period until all of said funds have been so accounted for.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Santa
Ana at its regular meeting held on the 16~h day of May, 1966.
