HomeMy WebLinkAbout66-139RESOLUTION 66-139 AUTHORIZING CONDEMNATION OF REAL PROPERTY SOUTH OF SIXTH STREET BETWEEN PARTON AND VAN NESS STREETS FOR CIVIC CENTER PURPOSES WHEREAS, because of the rapid population growth in the entire area of Orange County and in the City of Santa Aha, California, there is an immediate and present need to acquire land for expansion and development of the area known as the Civic Center for the location of public buildings, structures and related utilities. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the City Council of the City of Santa Ana does hereby find and declare that public interest and necessity require the acquisition of fee title in and to certain real property and an easement for alley purposes appurtenant thereto. Said properties lie within an area bounded on the north by Sixth Street, on the south by Fifth Street, on the West by Parton Street, and on the east by Van Ness Street in the City of Santa Ana, County of Orange, State of California, and are more particularly described as follows: PARCEL 1: Lot 9 of Block C of Ross Addition to Santa Aha, in the City of Santa Ana, as shown on a map thereof recorded in Book 3, pages 534 and 535, Miscellaneous Records of Los Angeles County, California. PARCEL 2: An easement over the North 10 feet of Lot 10 of Block C of Ross Addition to Santa Ana, in the City of Santa Ana, as shown on a map thereof recorded in Book 3, pages 534 and 535, Miscellaneous Records of Los Angeles County, California, for alley purposes, which easement is to be used jointly with the owners of Lots 9 and 10 in said Block C. PARCEL 3: Lot 4 in Block C of Ross Addition to Santa Ana, in the City of Santa Ana, as shown on a map thereof recorded in Book 3, pages 534 and 535, Miscellaneous Records of Los Angeles County, California. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: 1. That the City Attorney is hereby ordered to bring an action in the name of the City to condemn said property necessary to be taken and to do all things necessary to prosecute said action to final determination; 2. That said public improvement is planned and located in a manner which will be most compatible with the greatest public good and the least private injury; 3. That the City of Santa Ana is authorized, empowered, and required to provide for public buildings and public grounds; 4. That said action in condemnation shall be taken in accord- ance with the provisions of the Code of Civil Procedure and the Constitution of the State of California relating to eminent domain. PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Santa Ana at its adjourned regular meeting held on the 25th day of October, 1966.
