NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Santa Ana, California, that the two United States Senators representing the State of California, menlbers of the United States House of Representatives representing the Santa Ana area, and all other appropriate persons and agencies affected by this matter, be sent a copy of this resolution and hereby be memorialized to make all proper efforts to urge the Bureau of Prisons to relinquish its claim to the 58.17 acres of land above referred to, in order that said land may also be used for park purposes by the City of Santa Ana, for the following reasons: 1. This site has been recommended for development as a major park in the Master Plan of the City of Santa Ana after years of exhaustive study and research; 2. The City of Santa Ana has no major park consisting of more than approximately 20 acres to serve our 143,000 residents, and the rapid physical development of open spaces, and the population increase, make it extremely expensive and difficult to develop any major park other than at this site; 3. Any possible use of this site by the Bureau of Prisons would be incompatible with our environment.
