HomeMy WebLinkAbout67-020RESOLUTION 67-20 OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA, URGING LEGISLATIVE ACTION WITH RESPECT TO PRE-EMPTION BY THE STATE IN THE FIELDS OF VICE AND GAMBLING. WHEREAS, there is a divergence between the ordinances of various municipalities and the Acts of the State Legislature in the fields of Vice and gambling; and WHEREAS, the municipalities are in many instances frustrated in their efforts to legislate in these fields for the health, safety, and welfare of their citizens; and WHEREAS, legislative attention is necessary on the State level to rectify this problem; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the Legislature of the State of California is urged to adopt legislation clarifying the areas of enforcement and legislative powers as between the State and municipalities in the fields of vice and gambling; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That greater attention be paid by the State Legislature to a continuing examination and revision, where necessary, of State laws in the fields of gambling and vice, to the end that said legislation may be kept current to conform with current social requirements.
