OF THE CANVASS OF ELECTION RETURNS OF TEE GENERAL
MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD IN THE CITY OF SANTA ANA,
CALIFORNIA, ON APRIL 4TH, 1967
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Santa Ana, by
Ordinance NS-866,duly called for and provided for the holding
of a General Municipal Election on April 4th, 1967, and, by
Ordinance NS-865, duly called and provided for the holding of
a Special Election in consolidation with said General Municipal
Election; said elections were called to submit four propositions
to the voters and to fill vacancies in public offices; and
WHEREAS, notice of said Election, notice of nominees for public
office, notice of measu.res to be voted on, and notice of the election
officers and polling places were regularly given in time, form and
manner as provided by law; the sample ballots, together with copies
of the propositions and all arguments in favor of and against the
propositions, and the statements submitted by the candidates for
public office, were regularly mailed to all electors within the City,
and sample ballots were mailed to those electors outside of the city
but within the Santa Ana Uhified and Junior College Districts; and
said Election on said date was duly held at the polling places
designated and the votes cast thereat were canvassed and the returns
thereof made in the time~ manner, and form provided by law; and
WHEREAS, On the llth day of April, 1967, the City Council of
the City of Santa Ana has duly assembled at its usual place of
meeting, the returns of said Election having been canvassed.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA DOES
HEREBY RESOLVE, DETERMINE, AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS:
That the General Municipal Election was duly held on April 4th,
1967, and the votes cast thereat were duly and regularly canvassed
and the returns thereof made in the time, form, and manner required;
that all things were regularly done as required by law; that the
absent voter ballots were duly canvassed and counted as required by
law and the result of such count is hereinafter set forth on Exhibit A
attached hereto and made a part hereof; that this City Council has
duly canvassed the returns of said Election and from said returns it
appears, and this City Council finds, that the total number of votes
cast in each precinct for each person and for or against each of said
four propositions, the number of votes given in the City to each
person and for or against each proposition, the whole number of votes
cast in the City, and the total number of absentee votes cast in the
City'and in consolidated voting precinct No. 22 which consisted of
two State and County precincts and of School District territory which
lies outside of the City Limits of the City of Santa Ana, are as set
forth on Exhibit A, attached hereto and made a part hereof.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That at said General Municipal
Election THOMAS W. THURMAN, residing in WARD TWO, LORIN GRISET,
residing in WARD FOUR, and J. OGDEN MARKEL, residing in WARD SIX,
were elected to the office of Member of the City Council for a term
of four years;
That WILBER F. HARTMAN and CHARLOTTE M. REITER were elected
to the office of Member of the Board of Education for the term of
four years;
That at the Special Election called and consolidated with said
General Municipal Election, Proposition A, concerning incurring a
bonded indebtedness for storm drains and sewer improvements, failed
to receive the affirmative vote of two-thirds of the electors voting
on said Proposition, and said Bond Proposition is hereby declared to
have failed;
CERTIFICATE OF CANVASS
I, Doris M. Brown, Clerk of the Council, City of Santa Ama,
County of Orange, State of Califorala, dul~ authorized by
Resolution No. 67-24, adopted by the City Council of said City on
the 20th ~ of Feb~mwy, 1967, do hereby certify that I have
canvassed the returns of the regular general municipal election
held in said city on the 4th day of April, 1~67, and find that
the number of votes given at each precinct and the number of votes
given in the City to persons voted for, the respective offices for
which said persons were candidates aud for amd against the measures
were as set out in the attached listing.

That Proposition B, concerning the City of Santa Ana Public
Building Bonds, failed to receive the affirmative vote of two-thirds
of the electors voting on said Proposition, and said Bond Proposition
is hereby declared to have failed;
That Proposition C, concerning City of Santa Ana Street Bonds,
failed to receive the affirmative vote of two-thirds of the electors
voting on said Proposition, and said Bond Proposition is hereby
declared to have failed; and
That Proposition D, concerning the City of Santa Aha Community
Parks and Recreational Facilities Bonds, failed to receive the affirma-
tive vote of two-thirds of the electors voting on said Proposition,
and said Bond Proposition is hereby declared to have failed.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Santa
Ana at its adjourned regular meeting held on the llth day of April,
1967, for the purpose of declaring the result of the canvass of the
election returns.
