HomeMy WebLinkAbout69-055RESOLUTION 69-55 STATING AND DECLARING THE RESULT OF THE CANVASS OF ELECTION RETURNS OF THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD IN THE CITY ~F SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA, ON APRIL 1ST, 1969 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Santa Ana, by Ordinance NS-956, duly called for and provided for the holding of a General Municipal Election on April 1st, 1969; said election was called to fill vacancies in public offices; and WHEREAS, notice of said Election, notice of nominees for public office, and notice of the election officers and polling places were regularly given in time, form and manner as provided by law; the sample ballots, and the statements submitted by the candidates for public office, were regularly mailed to all electors within the City, and sample ballots were mailed to those electors outside of the City but within the Santa Ana Unified and Junior college Districts; and said Election on said date was duly held at the polling places designated and the votes cast thereat were canvassed and the returns thereof made in the time, manner, and form provided by law; and WHEREAS, on the 8th day of April, 1969, the City Council of the City of Santa Ana has duly assembled at its usual place of meeting, the returns of said Election having been canvassed. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DETERMINE, AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS: That the General Municipal Election was duly held on April 1st, 1969, and the votes cast thereat were duly and regularly canvassed and the returns thereof made in the time, form, and manner required; that all things were regularly done as required by law; that the absent voter ballots were duly canvassed and counted as required by law and the result of such count is herein- after set forth on Exhibit A attached hereto and made a part here- of; that this City Council has duly canvassed the returns of said Election and from said returns it appears, and this City Council finds, that the total number of votes cast in each precinct for each person, the number of votes given in the City to each person, the whole number of votes cast in the city, and the total number of absentee votes cast in the City and in consolidated voting precinct No. 56 which consisted of two State and County precincts and of School District territory which lies outside of the City Limits of the City of Santa Ana, are as set forth on Exhibit A. attached hereto and made a part hereof. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That at said General Municipal Election JERRY M. PATTERSON, residing in WARD ONE, WADE HERRIN, residing in WARD THREE, RAY VILLA, residing in WARD FIVE, and WALTER BROOKS, residing in WARD SEVEN were elected to the office of Member of the City Council for a term of four years: That JESSE F. BERRY, CHARLES E. ELERDING, and ROBERT K. HARR were elected to the office of Member of the Board of Education for the term of four years; that RUD¥ MONTEJANO was elected to the office of Member of the Board of Education for the term of two years. PASSED AND ADOPTED by the city Council of the City of Santa Ana at its adjourned regular meeting held on the 8th day of April, 1969, for the purpose of declaring the result of the canvass of the election returns.
