CITY OF SANTA ANA OPPOSING USE OF FUNDS BY
THE ORANGE COUNTY MUNICIPAL WATER DISTRICT
FOR CONSTRUCTION OF STORAGE FACILITIES WHICH
WOULD NOT BE BENEFICIAL TO ALL ENTITIES OF
SAID DISTRICT
WHEREAS, the Orange County Municipal Water District
indicates that they intend to consider construction of large
storage facilities in the eastern part of Orange County; and
WHEREAS, said Orange County Municipal Water District
has authorized its Engineers to study possible sites for the
construction of storage facilities; and
WHEREAS, Cities that comprise membership in the West
Orange County Water Board represent approximately one-fourth
of the assessed valuation of the Orange County Municipal Water
District;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the City Council
of the City of Santa Ana hereby expresses its opposition to the
use of funds collected from within the entire Orange County
Municipal Water District for the construction of storage facilities
which would benefit only a portion of the area within said District;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That the City Council of the City
of Santa Ana requests that the Orange County Municipal Water
District hold a public hearing before proceeding further with the
expenditure of money in connection with additional storage
facilities.
