HomeMy WebLinkAbout69-171RESOLUTION 69-171 PROHIBITING SMOKING IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBER DURING COUNCIL MEETINGS WHEREAS, it has been shown that smoking is highly detrimental to the health of those who engage in such activity, causing death or serious physical impairment in many instances each year; and WHEREAS, smoking by persons within the Council Chamber during meetings of the City Council is offensive to many persons, distracts from the activities of the meeting, and detracts from the solemnity and dignity of the proceedings; and WHEREAS, recent prohibitions of smoking during meetings of the City Council have proved to be beneficial to all parties concerned; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that henceforth, during meetings of the City Council, smoking shall not be permitted within the Council Chamber, whether by Councilmen, staff personnel, or any other persons. PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Santa Ana at its regular meeting held on the 17th day of November, 1969.
