CITY OF SANTA ANAURGING THE ORANGE COUNTY
BOARD OF SUPERVISORS TO SUPPORT PROJECT
"COAST TO CREST" (SANTA ANA RIVER STUDY)
WI{EP~EAS, the County of Riverside has ~egun a study OX the
use of the Santa Ana River for recreational purposes in a project
called "Coast to Crest," which envisions the development of a
recreational area extending from the river mouth to the San
Bernardino Mountains; and
WHEREAS, the Orange County Board of Supervisors has been
asked to join with the Counties of Riverside and San Bernardino
to further this study; and
WHEREAS, the General Plan of the City of Santa Ana envisions
a continuous park along the banks of the Santa Ana River as the
"backbone of the proposed park and open space system throughout the
city of Santa Ana"; and
WHEREAS, the City of Santa Ana will benefit from this study
through contact with inland cities and counties concerning the
development of bicycle trails, hiking trails, camping areas and
other recreational facilities; and
WI{EREAS, there is a need for extensive new recreational
facilities in the County of Orange on a regional basis;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the city of Santa Ana
approved in concept the "Coast to Crest" study.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That the City of Santa Ana en-
courages the Orange County Board of Supervisors to join with the
counties of Riverside and San Bernardino in furthering this study.
