HomeMy WebLinkAbout70-090BESOLUTION 70-90 DECLARING THE INTENTION OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA TO TREAT PERSONS DISPIACED BY CITY ACTION IN A MANNER COMPATIBLE WITH THEIR BEST INTERESTS WHEREAS, governmental agencies regularly employ powers to acquire land for special use; and WHEREAS, in many instances the amount of land necessarily obtained for the public purpose causes the continued use of the land by the condemnee to be impossible; and WP/EREAS, as a result of such impossibility, persons, families, and companies are betimes required to relocate residences or businesses, as the case may be; and Wt~EREAS, such displacement invariably leads to greater or lesser degrees of inconvenience; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: 1. That the City of Santa Ana shall endeavor to cause persons displaced by city action to be treated in a manner looking toward their best interests, specifically to facilitate the relocation of such persons in new quarters. 2. That the councilmen hereby request that they be provided by staff with developments in low-cost housing, both publicly and privately financed. 3. That information be furnished to the City Council by the staff as to what programs, if any, are available to facilitate the development of low-cost housing, by matching funds or otherwise, to provide possible places of settlement by those persons displaced by City action.
