THE GENERAL ~UNICIPAL ELECTION HELD IN THE CITY OF
SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA, ON APRIL 6, 1971
W~EREAS, the City Council of the City of santa Ana, by
Ordinance NS-1069, duly called for and provided for the holding
of a General Municipal Election on April 6, 1971; said election
was called to fill vacancies in public offices; and
WHEREAS, notice of said election, notice ofnominees for
public office, and notice of the election officers~and polling
places were regularly given in time, form and manner as provided
by law; the sample ballots, and the statements submitted by the
candidates for,public office, were regularly mailed to all
electors within the City; and said election on said date was
duly held at the polling places designated and theivotes cast
thereat were canvassed and the returns thereof made in the time,
manner, and form provided by law; and
WHEREAS, on the 13th day of April, 1971, the City Council
of the City of Santa Ana duly assembled at its usual place of
meeting, the returns of said Election having been canvassed by
the Clerk of the Council.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA
DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DETERMINE, AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS:
That the General Municipal Election was duly held on
April 6th, 1971, and the votes cast thereat were duly and regularly
canvassed and the returns thereof made in the time; form, and
manner required; that all things were regularly done as required
by law; that the absent voter ballots were duly canvassed and counted
as required by law and the result of such count isihereinafter
set forth on Exhibit A attached hereto and made a part hereof;
that the Clerk of the Council has duly canvassed the returns of
said election and from the said returns it appears, and this City
Council finds, that the total number of votes given in the City
to each person, the whole number of votes cast in the City, are
as set forth on Exhibit A, attached hereto and made a part hereof.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That at said General Municipal
Election VERNON S. EVANS, residing in Ward 2; LORI~ GRISET,
residing in Ward 4; J. OGDEN MARKEL, residing in Ward 6, were
elected to the office of Member of the City Council for a term
of four years; and that HARRY K. YAMAMOTO, residing in Ward 7,
was elected to the office of Member of the City Council for a
term of two years.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of
Santa Ana at its adjourned regular meeting held on the 13th day of
April, 1971, for the purpose of declaring the result of the
canvass of the election returns.
