OF SANTA ANA SUPPORTING TIt~ CONCEPT OF FAIR
HOUSING AND SETTING FORTH THE INTENTION OF SAID
COUNCIL TO EMPLOY ALL LAWFUL MEANS WITHIN ITS
POWER TO ENFORCE THE FAIR HOUSING LAWS
WHEREAS, fair and equal access to housing is a right
guaranteed to all citizens by law and conscience; and
WHEREAS, the exercise of the right to obtain housing
without discrimination by race, creed, color, or national origin
is fundamental to the exercise of other rights to which all
citizens are entitled; and
WHEREAS, all citizens have a duty to support and assist
in the enforcement of all laws including those particularly
directed toward Fair Housing; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has the duty to inform the
public of the laws and all levels of government are sworn to
uphold and enforce all laws;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:
1. That the City of Santa Ana is a city committed to the concept
of Fair Housing; and
2. That all citizens are urged to obey the spirit and letter
of the laws relating to Fair Housing;
3. That by work and deed, the City of Santa Ana should be a model
for Fair Housing;
4. That the City of Santa Ana will employ all lawful means within
its power to enforce the Fair Housing laws; and
o
That the City of Santa Ana endorses the proclamation of
April 19th through 25th as Fair Housing Week, expressing
itsv~lcome to all residents as shareholders in common with
the interest in making Santa Ana a good place to live.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of
Santa Ana at its regular meeting held on the 19th day of April, 1971.
