BY PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION CASE NO. 8209
FOR UNDERGROUNDING EXISTING UTILITY LINES
WHEREAS, the Califormia Publi~Utilities Commission by Case No. 8209
has established the rules amd regulations for the conversion of existing
overhead distribution facilities; and
WHEREAS, these rules and regulations now require local government
to become directly involved in the conversion of the customer's service;
and
WHEREAS, this involvement with the customer's service is inefficient,
cumbersome and results in an undue and needless burden being placed on
local government; and
WHEREAS, it is felt that the utility companies should be better
equipped and staffed than a public agency to work with their own customers.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City
of Santa Aha urges both the League of California Cities and the County
Supervisors' Association to support a change in the existing rules and
regulations for the conversion of the customer's service that would allow
such conversion costs to be paid from funds set aside under the 8209
program; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the Council is hereby
directed to send copies of this resolution to the League ef California Cities,
the County Supervisors' Association of California, and all of the cities
