RESOLUTION 72-72 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA APPROVING THE RECOM- MENDATIONS CONTAINED IN THE ORANGE COUNTY BICYCLE'STUDY PREPARED BY THE ORANGE COUNTY CRIMINAL JUSTICE COUNCIL DATED MARCH 1972 WHEREAS, the incidence of the theft of bicycles is rapidly increasing in Orange County as well as in the State of California, and legislation has been introduced in the form of Senate Bill 147 in order to deal with this problem; and WHEREAS, the Orange County Criminal Justice Council has pre- pared a detailed study on this matter dated March 1972 and entitled "Orange County Bicycle Study" which proposes an "Alternative to Senate Bill 147"; and WHEREAS, the changes to Senate Bill 147 proposed in said "Alternative to Senate Bill 147" have been proposed by representa- tives of law enforcement agencies who deal with the problem of bicycle theft, and said changes provide for the requirements of methods of licensing, licensing revenues, requirements of retailers to serialize bicycles and establishment of an automated file of all licensed bicycles in the State; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the City Council approves the recommendations contained in the Orange County bicycle study and does hereby urge the support of the modifications to Senate Bill 147 as suggested by the Orange County Criminal Justice Council in its study dated March 1972. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That the City Clerk is hereby directed to forward a copy of this resolution to all local repre- sentatives and all members of the Committee on Transportation.
