None Council Chamber Santa Ana~ity ~ Hall ~, April 20th, 1955. 5:30 P.M.i~ The Mayor administered the oath to Rosann M. Hardcastle, Bessie H? Stovall, Bessie M. Foster and Ruth D[ Wetherbee,~ who served as El~.ctio~ Officers on Consolidated Precinct No 2. The ~lection Officer's pro- ceeded to tally the votes cast in Consolidated Precinct No. 2 for or a~ainst the Library Bond proposition on the Special Bond Election. At the completion of their Tally the Council accepted the same, then completed its canvass. The Council finds that as a result of said 313 In Re Resol. No. 55-113 Declaring result of Electioh April 12th, 1955 lin Re Clerk ' s Statement General Municipal and Special Bond Election, the whole number of votes cast was 8750 and that the following persons ~rere voted for with the following results and totals, to-wit: *' Second Ward, and for a four-year term: For member of the Ci,y Council, S. Jack Eller received 664 votes. Jacob C. Gould received 453 votes. Dale H. Heinly received 2925 votes. Ruth M. Kotlar received 2626 votes. B. Jack Rhodes received 1521 votes. For member of the City Council, Fourth Ward, and for a four-year term: R.R.Campbell received 1187 votes. 'Cecil C. DeVote received 2~54 votes. Donald E. Hall received 74~ votes. Richard W. Howard received ~42 votes. J. Ogden Mark~l r~ceived 3254 vot~s. For member of th~ Board of Education, George A. King received 5096 C.B.Knickerbocker received 5287 votes. Ruth Schultz received 2491 votes. Sol B. Siskin received 2048 votes. Robert Larsen received 4 votes. David Farrell received I vote. R.C.Hoiles received 2 votes. and for a four-year term: and for a two-year t~rm: The Council having.unanimously waived the reading of the Rcsolution, on motion of Councilman McBride, seconded by D~ql and carried, the fol- lowing Resolution entitled: "Resolution No. 55-113 stating and declaring .the result of the canvass of election returns of the Special Mend Election and the General Municipal Election held in the City of Santa bna, C~lifornia, on April 12th, 1955" was considered and passed by the following vote: Ayes, Councilmen ~illiam Jerome, J.L.McDride, Thomas F. Larsen, Milford W. Dahl, Courtney R. Chandler. Noes, Co. uncitmen None Absent, Councilmen None ,, Clerk's statement of final result of election ~ ~urns on the Ceneral Municipal and Special Bond Electi~n held April 12th, 1955, is attached hereto: 3!4 The terms of office as members of the City Council of ~.~c~rlae and Thomas F. Larsen having expired, the Mayor declared a recess. The Clerk administered the ~ oa~. of office and oath of allegiance to Dale H. Heinly and J. Ogden Markel, duly elected as members of the City Council for the ensuing term of four years and residing in l'fards 2 and 4 respectively. Meeting called to order by the Clerk and the Council installed the two newly elected Councilmen. In Re Appointment Mayor Present'.' Councilmen Dale H. Heinl~','J. Ogden Markel, !~:illiam Jerome, Milford W~ Dahl, Courtney R. Chandler. Absent ~ Councilmen None A motion ~cas made by Councilman Heinly and seconded by Markel that Courtney R. Chandler be nominated ss Mayor of the City of Santa Ana. A motion was made by Councilman Da~hl' and seconded by Jerome that the nomination be closed. Motion was carried. Courtney R. Chandler Tn Re Appointment Vice-Mayor assumed th~ office of Mayor of the City of Santa Ana. A motion was made by Councilman Jerome and seconded by Heinly that Milford ~f. Dahl be nominated as Vice-Mayor of the City of Santa Ans. A motion was made by Councilman Markel and seconded by Jerome that the In Re Appointment Dale H. Heinly Or.Ce.San. Dist. No. 1 nomination be closed. Motion was carried. It was moved by Councilman Jerome, seconded by Dahl ~nd carried, that Dale K. Helnly be appointed as the representative of the City of .Santa Ana on the Board of Directors of County Sanitation District No. l, ~n In Re Appointment Dale H. Heinly as alternate Or.Ce. San Dist. No. 7 In Re Resol. No. 55-115 Expressing appreciation for service of J. L. McBride addltio~ to the Mayor. It was moved by Councilman Dahl, seconded by Jerome and carried, that Dale H. Heinly be appointed as alternate to the Mayor of the City of Santa Ana on the Board of Directors of County Sanlt~-tlon District No. 7. The Council having un=nimously waived the readi~ of the Resolution, on motion of Councilman Marke!, seconded by Dahl and carried, the fol~ lowing Resolution entitled: "Resolution No. 55-114 expressing appreciation for the service of and commending retiring Councilman J. L. McBride" was considered and passed by the follov.~ing vote: In Re Rose1. No. 55-115 Expressing appreciation for service of ~Thomas F. Larsen Ayes, Councilmen Dale H. Heinly, J.
