HomeMy WebLinkAbout72-078RESOLUTION 72-78 OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA, REQUESTING THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF ORANGE TO CONSOLIDATE A SPECIAL MUNICIPAL BOND ELECTION OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA TO BE HELD ON NOVEMBER 7, 1972, WITH THE GENERAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON NOVEMBER 7, 1972, PURSUANT TO SECTION 23302 OF THE ELECTIONS CODE WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Santa Ana has called a special municipal election in the City of Santa Ana to be held on November 7, 1972, for the purpose of submitting to the qualified voters of the City of Santa Aha bond propositions for the City of Santa Ana as hereinafter in this Resolution set forth; and WHEREAS, it is desirable that said special municipal bond election be consolidated with the general election to be held on the same date and that within the City of Santa Ana the precincts, polling places and election officers of the two elections be the same, and that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Orange canvass the returns of the special municipal election and that said general election and special municipal election be held in all respects as if there were only one election; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DETERMINE AND ORDER, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. That pursuant to the requirements of Section 23302 of the Elections Code, the Board of Supervisors of the County of Orange be and it hereby is requested to consent and agree to the consolidation of a special municipal bond election with the general election on Tuesday, the 7th day of November, 1972, for the purpose of submitting to the electors of the City of Santa Ana propositions to appear on the ballot, as follows: PROPOSITION A - CITY OF SANTA ANA FIRE PROTECTION AND RESCUE FACILITIES BONDS: Shall the City of Santa Aha incur a bonded indebtedness in the principal amount of $2,681,000 for the purpose of additions and improvements to the fire protection system and rescue facilities of the City includ- ing fire stations, additions to the fire alarm and communications system and other fire fighting facilities, including additional fire station sites in various areas of the City, and including for all the foregoing land, furniture, equipment, facilities and all other property necessary therefor? PROPOSITION B - CITY OF SANTA ANA STORM DRAINS AND SEWERS BONDS: Shall the City of Santa Ana incur a bonded indebtedness in the principal sum of $4,988,000 for the acquisition and construction by said City of additions and improvements to the storm drainage system of the City; additions, improvements and replacements of the sanitary sewer system of the City including trunk and connecting sewers; and including for all of the foregoing, land, equipment, facilities and all other property necessary therefor? PROPOSITION C - CITY OF SANTA ANA OPEN SPACE LAND ACQUISITION (FOR GREENBELT, PARK AND RECREATIONAL FACILITIES) DEVELOPMENT BONDS: Shall the City of Santa Ana incur a bonded indebtedness in the principal sum of $4,642,500 for the acquisition of open space and park and recreational facilities development, including establishment and development of neighborhood parks, mini-parks and community recreational facilities throughout the City including neces- sary land and other property rights therefor and for the foregoing, equipment, facilities and all other property necessary therefor? Section 2. Said Board of Supervisors is hereby authorized to canvass the returns of said special municipal bond election which it is hereby requested to consolidate with said general election and said election shall be held on all respects as if there were only one election, and only one form of ballot shall be used. Section 3. Said Board of Supervisors is hereby requested to issue instructions to the County Clerk of Orange County to take any and all steps necessary for the holding of said consolidated election. Section 4. The City of Santa Ana recognizes that additional costs will be incurred by the County by reason of this consolidation and agrees to reimburse the County for any such costs. Section 5. That the Clerk of the Council of the City of Santa Ana is hereby directed to file a certified copy of this Resolution with the Registrar of Voters cf the County of Orange.
