HomeMy WebLinkAbout72-105IAESOLUTION 72-105 AMENDING SECTION 3 OF RESOLUTION NO. 58-281 TO ADD CLASS TITLE OF TRAFFIC EQUIPMENT OPERATOR WHEREAS, on November 3, 1958, the City Council passed and adopted Resolution No. 58-281, revising and re-establishing the Basic Compensation Plan for employees of the City of Santa Ana; and WHEREAS, it is now desired to add a new class to the list of class titles contained in said Resolution No. 58-281, as amended, and to allocate salary and wage schedules thereto. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That Section 3 of Resolution No. 58-281, as amended, is hereby further amended by adding to Section 3 thereof, in proper alphabetical sequence, the following class title and salary range number as next herein set out: CLASS TITLE SALARY RANGE NO. Traffic Equipment Operator 265 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That this amendment shall take effect on October 16 , 1972. WITHERS, CITY ATTORNEY CITY OF SANTA ANA TRAFFIC EQUII~NT OPERATOR DEFINITION Under general supervision, to operate, maintain and make minor repairs to high pressure- high temperature paint striping apparatus for the painting of traffic lines on city stree! EXAMPLES OF DUTIES Prepares the striping"~p~ratus by turning on heaters adjusting line pressures, and replacing cleaning solvents with paint in lines. Operate paint spray gun applying lane division and center line markings on roadways; aligns spray gun carriages with proper traffic striping markers; operates master control switches to modify type of spray patterr desired prior to and during the spraying process. Maintains control console to determine adequacy of numerous initial pressures and temperatures. Adjusts valves, levers and b electrical switches which regulate pressure to spray guns, bead guns, inductor plates, solvent circulation systems, heat exchange and paint circulation systems, and control temperatures of heat exchange oil and paint product. .Cleans all paint systems~ including bead and paint guns and lubricators. Conducts operating maintenance checks and performs repairs necessary to keep paint spraying equipment in operable condition. Acts as a leadman of a crew assigned to the street painting section. DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS An employee in this class performs skilled work in operating complex integrated paint striping equipment requiring mechanical understanding of the apparatus as well as considerable manipulative skill in the driving and painting operation. Performs leadman responsibilities in training and directing workmen in street painting activities. MINIMUM BASIC REQUIREMENTS Completion of the tenth grade and two years experience in the operation of high pressure- high temperature traffic paint spraying equipment or similiar heavy duty equipment. p~SIRABLE KNOWLED.GE, SKILLS AND A~ILITIES Knowledge of methods, materials and equipment used in painting traffic lane markers and centerlines; procedures used in preparing painting and heat exchange equipment for 6perat- ion and in cleaning after use.
