A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA,
AUTHORIZING CERTAIN OF ITS MEMBERS
TO FILE WRITTEN ARGUMENTS REGARDING
CITY MEASURES
WHEREAS, the General Municipal Election is to be held in
the City of Santa Ana on April 3, 1973, at which there will be
submitted to the qualified electors of said City the following
City measure:
PROPOSITION A
Shall Article IV, Division I, Section 401 of : :
the Charter of the City of Santa Ana be amended : :
reducing from two (2) years, to one (1) year, : :
the time a person must be a resident and regis- : YES :
tered elector of the City immediately preceding : :
the date of his election or appointment to be : :
eligible to hold the office of councilman; and : :
reducing from one (1) year to six (6) months, : :
the time a person must be a resident of the : NO :
ward from which he is elected at the time he is : :
elected to be eligible for nomination from the : :
ward within which such person resides. : :
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Santa
Ana, California, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE DETERMINE AND ORDER AS
FOLLOWS:
Section 1: That this City Council, being the legislative
body of said City, hereby authorizes Councilm~an Jerry
Patterson , member of said body, to file
written arguments for Proposition A in accordance with Article 4,
Chapter 3, Division 4 of the Elections Code of the State of
California and to change said arguments until and including the
date fixed by the Clerk of the Council after which no arguments
for or against said measure may be submitted to said Clerk.
Section 2: That this City Council, being the legislative
body of said City, hereby authorizes Councilman ~ n~
Markel , of said body to f~le written
argument against Proposition A in accordance with Article 4,
Chapter 3, Division 4 of the Elections Code of the State of
California and to change said arguments until and including the
date fixed by the Clerk of the Council after which no arguments
for or against said measure may be submitted to said Clerk.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of
Santa Ana at its regular meeting held on the 5~th day of February,

Resolution was introduced to said Council at its regular meeting
