A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SANTA ANA CONSENTING TO THE CONSOLIDATION
OF THE GOVERNING BOARD MEMBER ELECTIONS OF
THE SANTA ANA UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT WITH
THE CITY ELECTIONS OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA
WHEREAS, California Education Code Section 1111.6
provides for the consolidation of school district governing
board member elections with city elections by the county
Superintendent of Schools upon the written request of the
governing board of the school district, with the consent
of the legislative body of the city and of any governing
board of a school district whose governing board member
elections are affected; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Education of the Santa Ana
Unified School District of Orange County, California, has
requested that the City Council of the City of Santa Ana
consent to the consolidation of the said Board's member
elections with the elections of the City of Santa Aha; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees of the Rancho Santiago
Community College District has consented in writing to
allow the Santa Ana Unified School District to withdraw
from its previous consolidation of elections with the said
Community College District; and
WHEREAS, Section 1227 of the California Education
Code provides for the apportionment of costs of a consolidated
election between the City and the school district and for
the reimbursement of the city by the school district for the
proportionate part of the costs incurred in the conduct of
the election attributable to the school district according
to such apportionment; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Santa Ana
desires that the elections of the Board of Education of the
Santa Ana Unified School District be consolidated with the
elections of the City of Santa Ana provided that the costs
of such consolidated election are apportioned as provided in
Section 1227 of the California Education Code.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council
of the City of Santa Aha does hereby consent to the consolidation
of the Board of Education of the Santa Ana Unified School District
with the elections of the City of Santa Ana subject to the appor-
tionment of costs incurred in the conduct of such elections
pursuant to the provisions of Section 1227 of the California
Education Code.
