A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SANTA ANA DESIGNATING THE GREATER SANTA ANA
CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AS THE OFFICIAL COORDINA-
TING AND ADVISORY ORGANIZATION TO DEVELOP A
PROGRAM FOR THE CITY OF SANTA ANA'S PARTICIPA-
TION IN THE 1976 AMERICAN REVOLUTION BICENTENNIAL
COMMEMORATION.
WHEREAS, 1976 will be a year to remember in our nation's
history as a time of celebration where Americans recall two
hundred years of independence and nationhood; and
WHEREAS, the Bicentennial Year will be a time of achieve-
ment, a time to remember the past, to enjoy the present and
to build for the future; and
WHEREAS, the City of Santa Ana urges all Santa Ana Citizens,
both young and old, to contribute information, time and assistance
toward the success of the Bicentennial Commemoration; and
WHEREAS, the Greater Santa Aha Chamber of Commerce has the
leadership ability and desire to act as the official advisory
and coordinating organization for the City of Santa Ana's
participation in the 1976 American Revolution Bicentennial;
and
WHEREAS, the official advisory and coordinating organization
duties would include inviting all interested individuals and
groups in Santa Ana to participate; establishment of an official
Bicentennial Committee representing the total community; pre-
paration of a recommended, detailed program of activities with
a funding plan; recommendation of a Bicentennial Plan(s) to
be submitted as a Bicentennial Community Project.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the
City of Santa Ana hereby designates the Santa Ana Chamber of
Commerce as the official advisory and coordinating agency for
the American Revolution Bicentennial Commemoration of the City
of Santa Ana.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of
Santa Ana at its regular meeting held on the 15th day of April
1974.
