A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SANTA ANA AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE
A CONTRACT BETWEEN SANTA ANA AND THE CITY OF
GARDEN GROVE FOR THE FEDERALLY ASSISTED PUR-
CHASE OF "WALKIE TALKIE" RADIOS FOR THE POLICE
DEPARTMENT
WHEP~AS, the City of Garden Grove is the coordinating agency
for the distribution of Federal Funds through the County Criminal
Justice Council for purchase of police communications equipment;
and
WHEREAS, the City of Garden Grove will agree to make available
thirteen (13) walkie talkie radio units to the Santa Ana Police
Department on a twenty-five percent case match basis totaling
$3,465.35 and
WHEREAS, in order to provide the required cash match and to
pay for services and equipment incidental to the purchase of the
walkie talkies a transfer of $4,000.00 is required from account
11-343 to account 51-343-641; and
W~REAS, the Chief of Police has recommended the participa-
tion of the City in this Communications Equipment Procurement
Program in order to promote and advance the efficiency of the
City's law enforcement efforts.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the City Council of the
City of Santa Ana hereby approves the participation of the City
in the agreement submitted to the City Council on this date bet-
ween Santa Ana and Garden Grove pertaining to the purchase of
thirteen walkie talkies and hereby authorizes the Mayor to sign
such agreement on behalf of the City.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That the City Council hereby
authorizes and directs the transfer of the sum of ~4,000.00 from
account 11-343 operating fund, technical services to account
51-343-641 capital outlay, Police Department, for necessary expen-
ditures in connection with the purchase and use of such equipment.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Santa
Ana at its regular meeting held on the 6th day of May
1974.

~ THIS AGREEMENT is made and entered into this day
4 of , 1974, by and between the CITY OF GARDEN GROVE,
5 a Municipal corporation, hereinafter designated as "GARDEN GROVE,"'
611 and the cITy OF SANTA ANA , a Municipal corporation,
711 hereinafter designated as "AGENCY."
RECITALS
1. The Council on Criminal Justice approved, on
April 17, i974, a grant application for the City of Garden Grove
to provide "pack-set radios" (walkie-talkies) to law enforcement
agencies in 6range Councy.
2. Under the terms of the grant, the City of Garden
Grove is acting as prime sponsor for the distribution of pack-set
radios to law enforcement agencies in Orange County.
3. By the terms of this agreement, the City of Garden
Grove and Agency desire to set forth the terms under which the
pack-set radios will be distributed and paid for and the terms
and conditions related thereto.
AGREEMENT
THE PARTIES MUTUALLY AGREE AS FOLLOWS:
4. Garden Grove, by separate agreen~nt will contract
for and receive from Motorola Communications and Electronics Inc.,
2041 Business Center Drive, Irvine, California, pack-set radios
of which Agency desires to obtain and use 13 of Typ9 A ,
at the unit price plus tax of $ 1,005.90 , for a total price
of $ 13,861.30 , including tax and local matching funds
of $ 3,465.32

5. The City of Garden Grove anticipates receipt from,
manufacturer of units by September 1, 1974, and distribution by '
September 15, 1974.
6~. Warranty and servicing will be the responsibility
of the Agency and will be accomplished under their current servio-
ing agreement with the Orange County Department of Transportation
and Communication and the. several cities.
7. Agency agrees to pay the total sum of $ 3,465.32
to the City of Garden Grove no later than June 15, 1974. In the
event Agency fails or refuses to pay the amount described above,
by the deadline date, Garden Grove reserves the right to refuse
delivery to Agency of the requested units.
8. In the event less than fifteen (15) agencies execute
agreements with the City of Garden Grove, Garden Grove reserves
the right to terminate the agreement with'the State Council on
Criminal Justice.
The parties hereto have executed this agreement the
day and year first appearing herein.
