A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SANTA ANA ORDERING, CALLING, PRO-
VIDING FOR AND GIVING NOTICE OF A SPECIAL
ELECTION TO BE HELD IN SAID CITY ON NOVEM-
BER 5, 1974, FOR THE PURPOSE OF SUBMITTING
TO THE QUALIFIED VOTERS CERTAIN BALLOT MEA-
SURES AMENDING THE CITY CHARTER, AND REQUEST-
ING THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF ORANGE COUNTY
TO CONSOLIDATE SAID ELECTION WITH THE STATE-
WIDE GENERAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON SAID DATE
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Santa Ana wishes
that certain amendments to the City Charter dividing the City
into eight wards and calling for the direct election of the
mayor be presented to the qualified voters of the City for
consideration for adoption in the manner provided in the City
Charter and the Constitution of the State of California; and
WHEREAS, there will be a State-wide General Election held
on November 5, 1974; and
WHEREAS, by Ordinance NS-1217 previously adopted by the
City Council, the Board of Supervisors of Orange County was re-
quested to consolidate with said State-wide General Election a
Special Municipal Election on the question of authorizing the
Housing Authority of the City of Santa Aha to develop low-rent
housing for elderly low-income residents; and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires that the aforementioned
Charter amendment proposition and the Housing Authority propo-
sition all be presented to and considered by the qualified vo-
ters of the City of Santa Ana at the same time and on the same
ballot.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Santa Aha, that a special election shall be held and
the same is hereby called to be held in the City of Santa Ana
on November 5, 1974, for the purpose of submitting to the quali-
fied voters thereof ballot measures relating to dividing the
city into eight wards and providing for the direct election of
the mayor.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that on the ballot to be used at
said special election, in addition to any other matters required
by law, including the proposition language contained in Section
3 of Ordinance NS-1217 heretofore adopted, there shall be printed
propositions in such language as may be hereafter approved by
the City Council of the City of Santa Ana pertaining to the Char-
ter amendments described hereinabove.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that all those provisions of Ordi-
nance NS-1217 pertaining to the conduct of the Special Election
therein called for shall apply in the same manner and effect to
the election on the Charter amendment propositions.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of
Orange County is hereby requested to include in the consolida-
tion of the Special Municipal Election called for in Ordinance
NS-1217 with the State-wide General Election to be held on
November 5, 1974, the aforementioned Charter amendment proposi-
tion and to conduct said single election on all propositions in
the manner provided in Ordinance NS-1217.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that notice of the t~me and place
of holding said election is hereby given and the Clerk of the
Council is hereby authorized, instructed and directed to give
such further or additional notice of said election the time,
form and manner as required by law.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that said Board of Supervisors is
hereby requested to issue instructions to the Registrar of
Voters of Orange County to take any and all steps necessary
for the holding of said consolidated election.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the Council of
the City of Santa Ana is hereby directed to file a certified
copy of this Resolution with the Board of Supervisors and the
Registrar of Voters of the County of Orange.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of
Santa Ana at its adjourned regular meeting held on the 22nd
day of Suly , 1974.
