A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SANTA ANA CREATING A SENIOR CITIZENS
EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM FUNDED AND GOVERNED BY
TITLE I OF THE COMPREHENSIVE EMPLOYMENT AND
TRAINING ACT OF 1973.
WHEREAS, There are approximately 31,000 persons over 60 years of
age living in Santa Ana; and
WHEREAS, There are about 6,200 senior citizens living below povsrty
level; and
WHEREAS,
There ars marked financial hardships experiencsd by the
elderly especially in the minority community due to present
unemployment, years of underemployment, and the rising cost
of living; and
WHEREAS,
The City of Santa Ana has made prior commitments to ensure
its senior population is suitably housed, and receives
necessary social services;
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the City Council of the City of
Santa Ana does hereby create and initiate a Senior Citizens
Employment Program through utilization of funds under Title
of the Comprehensive Employment and Training Act of 1973.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Santa Ana at its
regular meeting held on the 19th day of August , 1974.
