A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
ANA AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO APPLY TO THE U.S.
DEPARTMENT OF LABOR FOR FEDERAL EMERGENCY EMPLOYMENT
ACT FUNDS.
WHEREAS,
The President of the United States and the Congress of the
United States have recognized the problem of rising national
unemployment; and
WHEREAS, Unemployment is at 8.8% in the State of California, and is
expected to continue to rise during the next few months; and
WHEREAS, Unemployment continues to be a major problem for Santa Ana
residents; and
WHEREAS,
The U.S. Department of Labor has urged localities to make
preparations for the alleviation of these problems through
the use of federal emergency employment act funds which
will soon be appropriated;
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the City Council of the City of
Santa Ana does hereby authorize the City Manager of the City
of Santa Ana to apply to the U.S. Department of Labor and
the Orange County Manpower Commission for funds available
under the federal emergency employment act.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That the City of Santa Aha will comply with
the requirements of all applicable equal employment oppor-
tunity and civil rights legislation.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Santa Ana at its
Adjourned Regular meeting held on the 19~h day of ~,
