A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SANTA ANA APPROVING MAP AND DECLARING
INTENTION TO VACATE EIGHTH STIREET BETWEEN
SYCAMORE AND MAIN STREETS AND A PORTION OF
SEVENTH STREET EAST OF SYCAMORE STREET, AND
RESERVING AN EASEMENT FOR UTILITY PURPOSES
WHEREAS, the Department of Public Works and the Planning
Commission have recommended a public hearing be set on the
question of said vacation, a request for the vacation of Eighth
Street between Sycamore and Main Streets and a portion of
Seventh Street east of Sycamore Street; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Public Works has deemed it
essential to the health, safety and welfare that an easement
be retained over said right of way for the Pacific Telephone
and Telegraph Company for utility purposes;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Santa
Ana hereby approves the map attached hereto and orders the same
filed with the original of this resolution in the office of the
Clerk of the Council, and reference is hereby made to said map
for the exterior boundaries for said right of way proposed to
be abandoned.
The City Council declares its intention to proceed under
the provisions of the Street Vacation Act of 1941 (~8300-8374
of the California Streets and Highways Code) to abandon Eighth
Street between Sycamore and Main Streets and a portion of Seventh
Street east of Sycamore Street in the City of Santa Ana, County
of Orange, State of California, described as follows:
PARCEL 1:
A portion of Eighth Street, formerly Church Street,
and Block E of Spurgeon's Addition to Santa Ana
in the City of Santa Ana, County of Orange, State
of California as shown on a Map thereof recorded
in Book 1, Page 56, Miscellaneous Record Maps in
the office of the County Recorder of said Orange
County, described as follows:
Beginning at the Northwesterly corner of Lot 5 in
Block A of said Spurgeon's Addition to Santa Ana;
thence Northerly 66.00 feet along the Northerly
prolongation of the West line of said Lot 5 to the
South line of Block D; thence Easterly 224.84 feet
along said South line of Block D and South line
of said Block E to a point on a tangent curve con-
cave Northwesterly having a radius of 15.00 feet,
a radial to last said point bears North 0° 12' 14"
East; thence Easterly, Northeasterly and Northerly
along last said curve through a central angle of
90° 03' 02" an arc distance of 23.58 feet to a
tangent point on a line parallel with and 45.00
feet Westerly, measured at right angles, from

the center line of Main Street, said tangent point
being also a point of cusp; thence Southerly along
last said parallel line 81.01 feet to the North
line of Lot 1, Block A; thence Westerly along said
North line of said Block A 239.85 feet to the point
of beginning.
Reserving therefrom an easement for The Pacific
Telephone & Telegraph Company to construct, place,
operate, inspect, maintain, repair, replace and
remove such aerial and underground telephone and
telegraph and communication structures as the Com-
pany may from time to time require consisting of
poles, anchors, wires, cables, conduits, manholes,
markers and necessary fixtures and appurtenances,
over a strip of land described as follows:
The Northerly 15.00 feet of the Southerly 57.50
feet of the above described parcel.
PARCEL 2:
That portion of Lot 10 in Block 22, as shown on a
plat of the Town of Santa Ana, recorded in Book 2
at page 51, of Miscellaneous Records of Los Angeles
County, California lying within the following des-
cribed property.
Commencing at the monumented intersection of the
center lines of Sycamore Street and Eighth Street
(formerly Church Street) and running thence South
0° 16' 19" West along said center line of Sycamore
Street 169.30 feet to a line parallel with and
30.00 feet Southerly, measured at right angles,
from the monumented center line of Seventh Street;
thence South 89° 48' 44" East along said parallel
line 43.77 feet to a point on a non-tangent curve
concave Southerly having a radius of 25.00 feet,
the radial to said point bears North 26~ 25' 36"
West, said point being also the true point of be-
ginning; thence Northeasterly along the arc of said
curve through a central angle of 32~ 29' 08" an arc
distance of 14.17 feet to a point of reverse cur-
vature with a tangent curve concave Northerly having
a radius of 480.00 feet, the radial to last said
curve bears South 6~ 3' 32" West; thence Easterly
along the arc of last said curve through a central
angle of 5° 52' 16" an arc distance of 49.19 feet
to a point of cusp with a tangent line, said tangent
line being also said line parallel with and 30.00 feet
Southerly, measured at right angles, from the monu-
mented center line of Seventh Street, the radial to
last said point bears South 0° 11' 16" West; thence
North 89~ 48' 44" West along said parallel line a
distance of 62.86 feet to the point of beginning.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the public convenience and
necessity require the reservation of an exclusive permanent

easement over a portion of said right of way by the Pacific
Telephone and Telegraph Company for utility purposes.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that April 21 , 1975,
at the hour of 7:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers, 22 Civic Center
Plaza, Santa Ana, California, is hereby fixed as the hour and
the place for hearing all persons interested in or objecting to
said proposed abandonment.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the Council of
the City of Santa Ana is hereby ordered to publish this reso-
lution one time in The Register, and the Director of Public
Works is ordered to post notices of street vacation conspic-
uously along the line of said street, stating the passage of
this resolution of intention to vacate, and the time and place
of hearing thereon. Said notices shall be posted not more
than 300' apart and at least three (3) such notices shall be
posted. Both publication and posting shall be completed at
least ten (10) days before the date of the hearing.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of
Santa Ana at its adjourned re§ular meeting held on the
10th day of March , 1975.
