A SPECIAL RESOLUTION OF THE CITY
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA
COMMENDING COUNCILMAN AND FORMER
VICE-MAYOR J. OGDEN MARKEL
MARKEL
Council
WHEREAS, Councilman and former Vice-Mayor J. OGDEN
has served the citizens of Santa Ana on the City
for a period of fourteen years; and
WHEREAS, Councilman J. OGDEN MARKEL'S term of office
was characterized by his vigorous personal efforts on behalf
of the City of Santa Ana; the accomplishments and goals re-
alized during his tenure included the following:
-- Vigorous sponsorship and support~of the
Bowers Museum;
-- Continuing interest and support of the
Santa Ana Public Library;
-- Long service on Board of Recreation and
Parks as Council representative;
Consistent representation of the integrity
of Santa Ana's industrial areas. In that
capacity he was founder and ardent supporter
of the South Main Improvement Association.

OGDEN MARKEL has long been noted
to the needs of his constituents;
WHEREAS, during his exemplary tenure he has always kept
a keen eye on the taxpayer's dollar; and
WHEREAS, J. OGDEN MARKEL is an acknowledged City
Historian.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council
of the City of Santa Ana, for itself and for those whom it
represents, expresses appreciation to J. OGDEN MARKEL for his
unselfish service to his fellow citizens, and for the intan-
gible as well as the tangible results of his countless en-
deavors.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City
of Santa Ana at its regular meeting held on the 17th day of
