RESOLUTION NO. 75-67
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SANTA ANA SUPPORTING ASSEMBLY BILL 1674 (LOCKYEAR)
CRIMINAL RECORDS DISCLOSURE.
WHEREAS, the scope and duties of the City Council require it
from time to time to consider the relevant background of various
applicants for employment, licensing or certification purposes;
and
WHEREAS, prior criminal convictions are a significant factor
in an applicant's background reflecting on current fitness for the
employment, licensing or certification sought; and
WHEREAS, within the course of scope of these official duties
the City Council has demonstrated the need for availability of such
criminal records to determine such eligibility for employment, li-
censing or certification purposes; and
WHEREAS, in the scope of duties of various City departments re-
quire, from time to time, that they consider irrelevant background
of various individuals with which they may deal; and
WHEREAS, prior criminal convictions are a significant factor
in an individual's background; and
WHEREAS, within the course of the scope of these departments'
official duties they have determined a desirability of availability
of such criminal records; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SANTA ANA:
1. That this City Council supports Assembly Bill 1674
(Lockyear);

That the City Clerk of the City of Santa Ana shall
cause copies of this resolution to be forwarded to
Assemblyman Nestande and the Intergovernmental Co-
ordinating Council of Orange County, Resolution
service for dissemination to all Orange County
cities.
