A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA COMMENDING
BEN "BOMO" KORAL
WHEREAS, BEN "BOMO" KORAL was born in a southern area
of Santa Ana formerly called Glorietta, California on February
27, 1910; and
WHEREAS, BEN "BOMO" KORAL attended the grammar schools
of Delhi, Willard and Lathrop in Santa Aha; and
WHEREAS, BEN "BOMO" KORAL demonstrated his industrious
personality at an early age by accepting a 30-mile bicycle
newspaper delivery route to Irvine Ranches via many dirt roads,
rain or shine; and
WHEREAS, BEN "BOMO" KORAL graduated from Santa Ana High
School and Santa Ana College completing all his formal educa-
tion in the City of Santa Ana; and
WHEREAS, BEN "BOMO" KORA£ received outstanding recogni-
tion in sports while attending Santa Ana High School and Santa
Ana College playing both baseball and football; and
WHEREAS, BEN "BOMO" KORAL received greater recognition
by being elected to the softball Hall of Fame as a catcher; and
WHEREAS, BEN "BOMO" KORAL demonstrated his great love
for recreation and sportsmanship by coaching and encouraging
others in sports; and
WHEREAS, BEN "BOMO" KORAL further demonstrated his love
for sports by accepting City service and by instituting and
conducting a recreation program for the City of Santa Ana in
April of 1933; and
WHEREAS, ~EN "BOMO" KORAL was instrumental in the con-
struction of the Santa Ana Municipal Stadium; and
WHEREAS, he was instrumental in personally supervising
the planting of over 100,000 trees and the construction of 35
of Santa Ana's 36 parks totaling more than 357 acres; and
WHEREAS, he has served the City of Santa Ana as gardener,
head gardener, forester, park foreman, construction supervisor,
recreation supervisor, recreation director, assistant superin-
tendent of parks, and park superintendent; and
WHEREAS, he did not use one day sick leave for 35 years;
and
WHEREAS, he left the City service only to serve in the
armed services during World War II and received two purple hearts
in the "Battle of the Bulge"; and

WHEREAS, after World War II returned to City service
to complete 42 years of service to the City of Santa Ana; and
WHEREAS, he has been president, director, and deputy
regional governor of the Lions Club, member of the Elks and
member of the Masons of Santa Ana; and
WHEREAS, as a life long resident of Santa Ana, he has
demonstrated great professional leadership, sportsmanship,
service to charity, industrialness, pathos, pride, providing
much for others to emulate.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that BEN "BOMO" KORAL,
after 42 years of service to the City of Santa Aha, 45 years
of successful marriage, 65 years of service to Santa Ana, 35
parks, 100,000 trees, professional and athletic fame is to be
extolled, lauded, applauded, commended and praised for his
dedication to the City of Santa Ana on his retirement from
City service on July 1st, 1975, by the City Council of the
City of Santa Ana.
