RESOLUTION NO. 75-83
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY CO~CIL OF THE
CITY OF SANTA ANA EXPRESSING ITS DESIRE
TO CONTINUE IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF A COM-
PUTERIZED GEO-CODED DATA BASE SYSTEM IN
COOPERATION WITH CERTAIN ORANGE COUNTY
CITIES AND ACQUIRE SECOND YEAR FEDERAL
FUNDS FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND
URBAN DEVELOPMENT FOR SUCH PURPOSES
WHEREAS, the City of Santa Ana desires to continue
to develop a computerized demographic and land-use infor-
mation system and to further the development and use of
the federally-funded computerized GEO-CODED BASE PROGRAM;
and
WHEREAS, the Cities of Anaheim, Garden Grove,
Huntington Beach are participating with the City of Santa
Ana and also have expressed the desire to continue in the
development of such a system in order to promote effi-
ciency and eliminate the duplication of effort on these
matters; and
and
WHEREAS, the Department of Housing and Urban Devel-
opment of the United States (HUD) has, under the Compre-
hensive Planning Assistance Program, made available
$150,000 to be funded for the purpose of further devel-
oping the above-named system; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Housing and Urban Devel-
opment will make the $150,000 grant available to the Cities
of Santa Ana, Anaheim, Garden Grove and Huntington Beach,
upon application, and such Cities named above may continue
to contribute in-kind contributions of staff and other City
resources as their one-third contribution upon the under-
standing that such balance is to be paid by HUD; and
WHEREAS, the City of Santa Ana is authorized to
contract with other agencies, and to enter joint-power
agreements with other public agencies pursuant to Section
6500 et seq. of the Government Code of the State of Cali-
fornia and, in addition, has been authorized to enter into such
agreement with the above Cities pursuant to Resolution 74-82;
and
WHEREAS, the cooperative development of management
information system, known as the GEO-CODED BASE is mutually
beneficial to the Cities of Santa Ana, Anaheim, Garden Grove
and Huntington Beach, and has shown to be within the
best interests of the City Departments of the City of
Santa Ana during the first year of the project.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council
of the City of Santa Ana does hereby express its desire and
willingness to continue to participate in the development
of the GEO-CODED DATA BASE SYSTEM with the Cities of Anaheim,
Garden Grove and Huntington Beach.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of
the City of Santa Ana does hereby indicate its willingness to
support the procurement of a $150,000 grant for the develop-
ment of the computerized GEO-CODED DATA BASE and further
authorizes the City to contribute its portion of the City's
one-third share of in-kind services, which amounts to $20,193.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of
the City of Santa Ana does hereby indicate its intention to
continue to participate in the development of the GEO-CODED
BASE and assist Anaheim, as the "lead agency," in the develop-
ment of the application for the $150,000 grant from the
Department of Housing and Urban Development.
