RESOLUTION NO. 75-98
A RESOLUTION OF TIlE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SANTA ANA EXPRESSII~G SUPPORT FOR
A.B. 145 (RALPH) RELATING TO TttE REORGA~I-
IZATION OF SCHOOL DISTRICTS
WHEREAS, the Fountain Valley School District
is considering reorganizing the boundaries of said District;
and
WHEREAS, said reorganization would affect the
interests of a number of residents of the City of Santa Ana,
including two-thirds of the students of Los Amigos High
School; and
~tEREAS, under existing statutory law, said
reorganization may be effected without the consent of all
of the governing boards involved or the voters of all of the
districts involved; and
WHEREAS, the Assembly of the State of California
has already passed A.B. 145; and
WHEREAS, the Senate of the State of California
is presently considering A.B. 145, which if passed would
not allow a change in the boundaries of a school district
unless the change is approved by the governing boards of the
districts affected, or unless the electorate, by a majority
vote of those voting at separate elections held for that
purpose throughout the entire territory of each of the districts
to be affected; and
WHEREAS, A.B. 145 would allow meaningful input
from all persons whose interests are directly affected by
said proposed reorganization, input not available under
existing statutory law.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council
of the City of Santa Ana:
1. That this City Council hereby expresses strong
support of A.B. 145 and urges its adoption.
2. That the City Clerk of the City of Santa Ana
shall cause copies of this resolution to be forwarded to
State Senators Dennis E. Carpenter and James E. Whetmore
representing this City.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Santa
Ana at its regular meeting held on the 21st day
of July , 1975.
