RESOLUTION NO. 75~44
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SANTA ANA ENDORSING SAID CITY AS THE SITE
FOR THE STATE POLICE OLYMPICS
WHEREAS, the California State Police Athletic Federation
holds annual Olympic Games with participation by several thousand
law enforcement officers from throughout the state; and
WHEREAS, these games are held during August at sites
alternately in the northern and southern sections of the state;
and
WHEREAS, the games have not been held in the County of
Orange since 1967; and
WHEREAS, the games provide an opportunity for rigorous
competition between Police Officers in some 40 events of sports
and professional activities including marksmanship; and
WHEREAS, the City of Santa Ana, County of Orange has
outstanding facilities for the games as well as accomodations
and recreation for the families of participating officers; and
WHEREAS, the Santa Ana Police Benevolent Association,
with the support of the Santa Ana civic and business community,
is strongly desirous of hosting the games in 1977;
WHEREAS, the citizens of Santa Ana warmly welcome the
participants and their families;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council
of the City of Santa Ana, California, endorses the selection of
the City of Santa Ana, County of Orange as the site of the 1977
California State Police Olympics;
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Santa Ana,
California recommends such selection to the California State
Police Athletic Federation.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of
Santa Ana at its regular meeting held on the 6th
day of October , 1975.
