A RESOLUTION OF 'r~. CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAI~TA
~4ENDING SECTION 2 OF RESOLUTION NO. 58-281
WHEREAS, on November 3, 1958, the City Council passed and adopted
Resolution No.58-281 revising and establishin$ the Basic Compensation Plan for
employees of the City of Santa Ana; and
WE]~REAS, the City Council has from time to time amended this Resolution;
and
WHEREAS, it is now desired to assign new salary range n-mhers to certain
class titles, change the effectl~edate of all salary range numbers, and to add or
amend certain salary differential footnotes, all included in Sectio~ 3 of said
Resolution 58-281, as amended;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That Section 3 of Resolution No. 58-281,
as amended, is hereby further amended to read as follows:
SECTION 3: Allocation of Classes of EmploTment to Salary Ranges. Classes
of employment shall be allocated to salary range numbers on the effective dates as
set forth below:

Footnotes-Salar~ Differentials
Personnel in the classes Of Construction Engineer and Plan Checking Engineer,
if a California Registered Engineer, will be paid at a rate set ten ranges (5%)
higher then their base rate.
(b)
Emergency Services Dispatchers and personnel in the classes of Clerical Operations
Supervisor, Stenographic Clerk I or Typist Clerk I assigned to the Police Depart-
ment will be paid an evening or night-shift differential at a rate set five ranges
(2.5%) higher than their base rate.
(c)
Personnel in the class of Firefiihter II who have successfully completed the
requisite Paramedic training program and who are assigned to and performing
Paramedic duties will be paid at a rate set twenty ranges (10%) higher then
their base rate.
(d)
Personnel in the classes of Police Officer and Policewoman, while assigned to
and performing as Accident Investigator, Administrative Assistant, Background
Investigator, Cotmmmity Relations Officer, InveetlSator, Training Officer
(Personnel & Training Section), or as Motorcycle Officer on a two-wheeled motor-
cycle, will be paid an additional fifty-five dollars ($55.00) per month.
Ef£ective July 1, 1977, Police Officers and Policewomen assigned to and perform-
lng in such special duty assismnents will be paid et a rate set ten ranges (5%)
higher than their then current base rate, instead of $55.00 per month.
(e)
Personnel in the class of Police Sergeant assigned to and perfomin8 duty in the
InvestigationDivision will be paid at a rate set ten ranges (5%) hisher than
their base rate, unless they are eligible to receive and are receiving career
development incentive bonus as Senior Police Sergeant I or Senior Police Sergeant
Shift Differential - Employees represented by the Santa Ann City ~nployees Association
not included in subsection (b) above: Effective July 1, 1977, each such employee
who is continuously and regularly assigned to a schedule of work which requires
that the majority of his or her work hours occur between the hours of 5:00 p.m.
and 7:00 a.m. will be paid a shift differential for his or her entire work shift
et a rate set five ranges (2.5%) higher than his or her base rate.
Bilingual Pay - Qualified employees who meet the following criteria will be paid a
monthly salary differential at a rate set two ranges (1.0%) higher then their
base rate:
1) Assi&n~ent by departmental management to a position requirin$ regular and
frequent use of bilingual capability in both SPanish and English, end
2) Certified by the Personnel Director as having satisfactorily demonstrated
conversational fluency in both languages, and
3) Approval of the City Manager

Fire Science Educational Incentive Allowance.
Personnel in the classes of Ftrefighter II, Fire Engineer, Fire Inspector and
Fire Captain, who meet the following criteria will be paid an additional flat
rate of thirty dollars ($30.00) per ~nth:
1) Successful completion of probationary period for Firefighter II, and
2) Possession of an Associate of Arts degree with major in Fire Science from
an accredited college, 30 units of which must have been earned subsequent
to employ~nent with the Santa Aha Fire Department.
Up°n promotion to any rank above.that of Fire Captain, such additional educational
incentive allowance shall be discontinued.
BE IT FUR'rH~R RESOLVED: That any and all other Resolutions amending
Section 3 of the Resolution No. 58-281 are declared to be superseded, rescinded and
repealed by this Resolution.
BE IT FURTRER RESOLVED: That this Resolution shall take effect as of the
day of July, 1976.
