ANA AMENDING RESOLUTION 58-281 DESIGNATING THE ASSISTANT
CITY ENGINEER AS MIDDLE MANAGEMENT AND PROVIDING COMPEN-
SATION ADJUSTMENTS FOR THE CLASS
WHEREAS, on November 3, 1958, the City Council passed and adopted Resolution
No. 58-281, revising and re-establishing the Basic Compensation Plan for all officers
and employees of the City of Santa Ana; and
WHEREAS, Section 1004, Article X of the City Charter of the City of Santa Aha
requires the City Manager to prepare, install and maintain a position classification
and pay plan subject to civil service rules and regulations and the approval of the
City Council; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has from time to time amended said Resolution; and
WHEREAS, on October 26, 1976, the City Council approved Resolution No. 76-129
to add the new class of Assistant City Engineer to the City's Classification and Pay
Plan; and
WHEREAS, staff, in drafting said Resolution No. 76-129, inadvertently failed
to designate the new position as middle management or to set forth future salary range
adjustments for the class in accordance with the two-year compensation adjustment plan
recently adopted by the City Council for middle-management classification; and
WHEREAS, it is now desired to designate the class as being Unrepresented
Middle Management in order to: 1) clearly distinguish it from first-line supervisory
and non-management classes represented by the recognized employee associations and
2) to provide the same compensation adjustment program established for all Unrepresented
Middle-Management classes.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That Section 3 of Resolution No. 58-281, as
amended, is hereby further amended by adding next to the class title of Assistant
City Engineer the parenthetical identifier (MM), as designating Unrepresented "Middle
Management", and the new salary range numbers on the effective dates as next herein
set out:

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That this amendment shall take effect on January
1 , 197~.
