A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA
HONORING MAYOR JOHN GARTHE
WHEREAS,
JOHN GARTHE is an outstanding citizen of the City
of Santa Ana, and has been for more than half a
century; and
WHEREAS,
JOHN GARTHE married Isabelle Brown Garthe in 1930,
raised three sons in the City of Santa Ana, and has
consistently participated in many community service
organizations and activities within the City through-
out those years; and
WHEREAS,
JOHN GARTHE served the City of Santa Ana for forty-
four years in the Fire Department, twenty-two years
as Fire Chief; and he became a nationally recognized
leader in the fire service profession; and
WHEREAS,
under JOHN GARTHE's leadership the Santa Ana Fire
Department achieved the highest national acclaim; and
WHEREAS,
JOHN GARTHE has been an active, dedicated member of
the City Council since he was elected to office on
April 3, 1973; and was elected by his fellow Council-
men as Mayor of the City of Santa Ana on April 8,
1975; and
WHEREAS,
JOHN GARTHE has steadfastly served his City with
loyalty, ability, integrity and honor; and has set
a proud example to the people of this community of
life in the City of Santa Ana; and
WHEREAS,

NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City
of Santa Ana hereby honors JOHN GARTHE for his success-
ful career and exemplary citizenship, and extends its
grateful appreciation to him for choosing Santa Aha
as his home, and for his continuing community service.
