RESOLUTION NO. 77- 69
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SANTA ANA HONORING MAURICE GLADMAN UPON HIS
ELECTION TO PRESIDENT OF KIWANIS INTERNATIONAL
WHEREAS, MAURICE GLADMAN was born in Winnipeg, Canada,
and educated at the University of Southern California; and
WHEREAS, MAURICE GLADMAN is married to Rosabelle St.
Clair Gladman and they have two children, Dennis and Patricia
Ann; and
WHEREAS, MAURICE GLADMAN owned a tire business in Orange
County for 19 years and is presently serving as Executive Director
of Southern California Tire Dealers and Retreaders Association
as well as Chairman of the Board of American State Bank; and
WHEREAS, MAURICE GLADMAN has been active in the spiritual
affairs of the community as a member, elder, choir member,
soloist and chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Tustin
Presbyterian Church; and
WHEREAS, MAURICE GLADMAN has provided leadership and
guidance in the community by serving the following organizations:
Santa Aha Chamber of ConFaerce, Santa Ana-Tustin YMCA, Salvation
Army Advisory Board, St. Josephs Hospital Foundation Board,
Boy Scouts Advisory Board, Board of Governors of Chapman College,
Civic Center Joint Powers Authority of Orange County, as well
as several fund drives and Mayor's Prayer Breakfast; and
WHEREAS, MAURICE GLADMAN has been honored by his community
for his outstanding service with the following awards: the
YMCA Service to Youth, the Boy Scouts of America Order of Merit,
the Salvation Army Heart to God, Hand to Man, the Santa Ana
Chamber of Commerce Golden City Citation, Kiwanian of the Year,
U.S. Tire Dealer of the Year, and Special Commendations from
the City of Santa Ana and the County of Orange; and
WHEREAS, MAURICE GLADMAN served his country in China,
Burma, and India during World War II, and in the Korean Conflict;
retiring as Colonel of the U.S. Army Reserve after receiving
the Bronze Star Medal and Legion of Merit Awards; and
WHEREAS, MAURICE GLADMAN was recently elected President
of Kiwanis International after serving the organization as:
president of the Santa Aha Club in 1959, lieutenant governor
of Division IV in 1962, governor of the California-Nevada-Hawaii
District in 1967, and trustee, vice-president and treasurer
of the International Board.
NOW, THEREFORE, we, the Mayor and Council of the City
of Santa Ana, do hereby resolve that MAURICE GLADMAN is to be

lauded, honored and congratulated on his election to the office
of President of Kiwanis International and for his work and
concern for the quality of life in the City of Santa Ana, the
County of Orange, the United States of America, and other countries.
