HomeMy WebLinkAbout77-095RESOLUTION NO. 7745 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA COMMENDING MAJOR AND MRS. TOM CISAR. WHEREAS, on June 18, 1951, Tom Cisar was commissioned a probationary Lieutenant and appointed to assist the Salvation Army Officer in Spokane, Washington; and WHEREAS, in 1952 Tom Cisar was assigned to be in charge of the Salvation Army's work in Havre, Montana; and WHEREAS, in 1954 Tom Cisar married Salvation Army Lieutenant Doreen Goldthwaite; and WHEREAS, Tom and Doreen Cisar were appointed as a team for the Salvation Army in Helena, Montana; and WHEREAS, Tom and Doreen Cisar served the Salvation Army in Vancouver, Washington; Bremerton, Washington; Glendale, California; and Santa Ana, California; and WHEREAS, Tom and Doreen Cisar have served Santa Ana since 1966; and WHEREAS, on October 4, 1970, the Santa Ana Salvation Army Headquarters moved from its 1923 facility to the 26,000 square foot community center located on West Edinger Street in Santa Ana; and WHEREAS, under the faithful leadership of Major and Mrs. Tom Cisar the Santa Ana Salvation Army Corps boasts one of the most progressive Corps programs in the nation; and WHEREAS, the Santa Aha Corps Senior Soldiership Program has grown from 135 to 255 and the Junior program now boasts 64 soldiers all under the guidance and faithful leader- ship of Major and Mrs. Tom Cisar; and WHEREAS, Santa Ana Salvation Army Soldiers are first among all other Corps in thirteen western states in its giving to the support of the Army's work in Santa Ana and the Army's 82 countries and colonies; and WHEREAS, Major and Mrs. Tom Cisar started in Santa Ana with a Corps staff of 5 and today boasts a Corps staff of 13 and a youth center serving 800 boys and girls, and an admin- istrative office which handles problems and physical needs for over 300,000 people each year; and WHEREAS, since Major and Mrs. Cisar arrived in Santa Ana over 1.7 million dollars has been invested in capital improvements in order that the Army might properly take care of those in need; and WHEREAS, after 11 years of faithful service in Santa Ana, Major and Mrs. Tom Cisar will now serve as Divisional Secretary in the Salvation Army's Cascade Division with headquarters in Portland, Oregon. RESOLUTION NO. 77-95 PAGE TWO NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Major and Mrs. Tom Cisar are to be lauded, commended, extolled and honored for their dedication, sacrifice and unselfishness in the giving of themselves to better serve the City of Santa Ana and the County of Orange. Major and Mrs. Tom Cisar have set examples for others to emulate in their dedication to humanity and the dignity of man through God's work with the Salvation Army. Major and Mrs. Tom Cisar will be greatly missed by the citizens and City Council of Santa Ana as they continue the Army's work in Oregon.
